OK, I am just hearing about Mohini from the Rick Beato interview. Good LAWD these guys are TIGHT!! I was expecting to hear the room erupt into applause, I am shocked so few people were there to see this! All of these players were just killing it. The bass over the drums at 3:22 WTH!!! Woooo!!!

When I first saw it was a trio with Sax, Bass, and Drums I thought it would be lacking and un-exciting. I couldn't have been more wrong. Unbelievably great in every regard. One of the best trios ever on this planet. Can't wait to see them perform.
@Baribrotzer

They're using backing tracks. Although I'm sure players on this level could cut it if the tracks went down, or their laptop got put on the wrong flight. Mohini would need to do more right-hand tapping on her top two strings to fill out the chords and might have a bit less freedom to get funky. They'd have to improvise more. Honestly, I'd prefer it.

Sadly there are backing tracks: horns and keys. Totally unnecessary and not what an eclectic audience (there and here on YT) needs.
@robertv1155

Yeah, she talked about chord changes in the interview and was wondering how they did that with only a bass and sax. I'm thinking the sax is going thru an octave pedal. Also, how do you improvise over a backing track? Seems limiting. Obviously they are amazing musicians but some of the things she was selling in the interview aren't really true. @@Tim091

@@Tim091 Sadly because that's what the economics are for high level instrumental music these days. Years ago I taught at a contemporary music school and we had a concert/clinic every Wednesday. One week it was Chad Wackerman (Frank Zappa drummer), Jimmy Johnson (James Taylor bassist), and guitarist Alan Holdsworth. After the first tune Chad began talking about his gear in great detail, which was weird because no one asked. Turns out their appearances were being sponsored by the gear companies, and this was their only appearance that wasn't in a music store. Meanwhile talentless hacks like Kanye West pull in millions of dollars at sold out concert venues.

Funny thing too, when i practice @ nite, i have VERY VERY VERY little light. My night "practice" is more or less "JUST PLAYING" working out the things i worked ON & i do THAT in almost complete darkness & people ask me "how do u do that & WHY do u do that?" MY ANSWER: {outdoor festivals NOT-included} how many bands do you see performing in the "BRITE LITE"......?????? 😅😅😅😅
