Nevermind Vincent - keep on trying! I remember fishing down there in County Cork for mackerel & I used to get them down in Kinsale; both in the harbour & off the bridge; maybe they're still there 😀 I had them up here in Loch Fyne yesterday & we BBQ'd them last night; they are delicious if cooked fresh 👍

@@TonyJackson-cf3er fresh is the key. You just can't beat a fresh mackerel fried on the pan. They are beautiful. I remember being a young fellow age 14 the mackerel were very big then. I remember having two for my breakfast then getting the first bus in the morning to Crosshaven fishing all day getting the last bus home arriving home cooking two fresh mackerel and heading off to bed. Up next morning having two mackerel for my breakfast and getting the bus again. Doing this every day for weeks eating 4 mackerel every day. I was fit then and a very happy young man. Great memories. Well done Vincent. At least you caught your supper. It's scary how many miles you can clock up just searching for a fish. When the river levels are right you just have to go! I class myself as lucky as the river is pretty much on my doorstep but I still do a lot of driving to different places! Some of my mates travel hundreds of miles to get to the river and then there's no water in! I'm catching though. I caught a 24lb Salmon last week so I was chuffed to bits. It makes it all worthwhile. It looks great where you live. Beautiful area. We'll have to have a holiday down there someday. I can't believe I've still never been to Ireland! Take care and keep catching!

Wow that's was some salmon. Never caught one that big or i should say i never landed one that big. I hooked a few monsters in my time i recon in the 40 pounds department. I still cry when i think of them. The river lee in Cork where i live before the damb was built on it. A 40 round fish was common. They were the days. Glad you got out onto the water and caught a whopper. Thanks for watching and commenting cheers always great to hear from you hope you and your wife are doing well and are happy.

It's getting worse year on year... 2 weeks ago 5 of us set out off the Old Head in a boat, we stopped to try to catch a few mackerel to use as bait later. I caught 1 and that was it... A few hours later 1 of the others caught 1 more. This was over about 7 hours. It's been a similar story on the few previous trips this year. They're just not out there. The Eco system and the weather pattern is broken!
