This man knows his job. He's done this more than a few times. I have had to call road service a number of time in over 30 years on the road. Not fun, and not cheap. My Michelin steer tires were over $500 and that was a few years ago. I ran 8 Bridgestone R 250s on my drives. The cost of the tire plus the service charge. ruined a day's profit ! Between that, and fuel, the days was a loss.

After getting all new tires two weeks earlier, I got a flat tire on a steer tire on a Sunday night. Call for road service. Ask the service guy to please look at it because it was two weeks old. He said we couldn’t plug a stair tire which I knew, but he still wouldn’t even look at it went down the road 5 miles later tire went flat again cause it was the valve that was rubbing against the self-balancer because the previous shop put it on wrong. That tire cost me $1000 back in 2000. I still get mad when I think about it.

I've changed tires on my Class A RV like that before. It's a lot easier with it still bolted to the axle than it is in the dirt. But, I have a big compressor & tank built into my RV, and I carry an air over hydraulic jack and long tire tools to work with. Once fixed a lady's flat tire on her RV on the side of the road with my tools. I patched it from the inside. (Called a boot patch). Her invalid husband was inside the coach sick, and the tire guys said it would take them 3+ hours to show up and it would cost her $500. I couldn't let the old woman sit parked in the middle of nowhere Montana with a sick husband. So I just parked my bus behind hers, pulled out my long sir hose and tools and went to work. I'm just an old 4X4 rock buggy guy who just likes to be prepared. My buggy sometimes needs tires repaired and stuff welded back on..... Yeah, I have a 120V Miller mig in my basement, too!

I had a blowout on my rv with a big tire like that. Roadside tire service came out and did it about the same way. Never took the rim off. I thought they’d have some hi tech tire changer on their truck…nope, just a dude with a couple of steel bars using low tech muscle just like this guy. It was impressive. They deserve much respect considering they do this day in and day out.
