Spot on re benefits of a set up. I did 30,000km on my s1000r, which is deliberately the mode without the electrickery suspension, without a set up. Out of the box it seemed fine, but after six or so track days it was not right. A bloke associated with the track day people, who it turns out races s1000rr in ASBK, did a set up. Despite not being a full set up (I would need heavier springs - I weigh 114kg) the difference was amazing. Bike tipped in much easier and kicked out of turns much better. Full set up will be first things when I upgrade

Couldn't agree with you more Brian mate. Suspension is soooooo important and getting it dialed in to your weight etc should be standard. I have always played about with suspension on all my bikes. A lot of people feel like it is a "black art". How you getting on with your BMW S1000R?

Sticky elephant The S1000R is going great - it is a great machine. Off to Sydney tomorrow to see a client, and going the long way down Putty Rd, then back up the Old Pac for a curry with mates for tea. Where I live we have some great roads, and the S1000R is just perfect for these roads. Suspension and ergonomic set up should be part of the purchase of a new bike, and is more important than a tail tidy or slip on IMHO.
