Approaching someone you find attractive in public and verifying their age before you continue is 100% the right thing to do. I don’t understand why the cop is confused by that. A lot of people nowadays look way older than they are. edit: none of us really know what the girls looked like or how old they were. We got the cops perspective and that’s it. You don’t seem to understand that it was mentioned in the video that the minors were clearly kids. That being said, the 19 year old was fully aware they were kids but still approached them. Yes, asking their age is the right thing to do but not when you clearly can tell when they’re too young.

I was facing big charges aswell because I was in the car with my friend who got caught with a bag full of stuff and I didn’t even get anything that would show up on my record. I did get followed and stopped a few times in the next few weeks but actually don’t sell anything so I was polite and offered up my rights for a search on the spot each time and they just refused and left me alone eventually.

Honestly it was questionable, Pistols are really only accurate up to about 50-60 yards 100 if your proficient judging from the range it was pretty far. However, the officer was in a predicament he was already taking fire and didn't have much cover or time. Also, the suspect entering the establishment was a concern and turning into a hostage situation would have been worse. I think the officer didn't have much of a choice but to return fire.

He really messed up pulling out the gun, he seemed fast he shoulda just ran full speed, find a spot to stash the gun quickly, and keep running so even if he did get caught eventually he wouldn’t have a stolen gun on him. He wasn't a kid. He was 19. And i'm sure he has made many bad life-choices up to this point. And then he kept on making very stupid life choices. He pulled a gun and tried to shoot a cop. So apparently he was completely crazy, too. Let's see a blood toxicology report. I want to know what psycho drugs he was on. Normally, weed and alcohol won't make you pull a gun on a cop, but meth would. Maybe fentanyl? Your brain has to be seriously disconnected from reality to do what he did. And once he was surrounded, he killed himself. I'm sure that was his plan when he woke up that morning, and decided to go to the mall to pick-up minors. This dude was just a total mess.

I've been in his situation. Not with a firearm, but I was on the verge of losing my licence and my career. I got pulled over while drunk. Actually I was parked in a parking lot when the cop came over. I was dropping off a friend but he was hammered and brought attention over to us. I surrendered, didn't try to run and was willing to accept my fate. I failed the hell out of the field sobriety test. He brought me to the station to blow in the breathalyzer and believe it or not, the breathalyzer broke and didn't give a reliable reading. They had to take me to another station. By the time I got to the next station, hours went by and I blew a .04. I was able to get a lawyer and got the DUI dismissed. I'm not encouraging anyone to drink and drive. I stopped drinking after this and thank God everyday for the mercy he showed me. Moral of the story is if you accept your fate like a man, God might throw you a bone or 2. It’s great for personal financial progress but the somewhat selfish and less community driven mindset of the average American causes them to have an ego far greater than people from most other countries, which unfortunately leads to chaos, not limited to the form of gun violence. We can point fingers at whoever or whichever side of the aisle we want, but America has always been like this. Sure, Trump will smoothen out the rough edges that have developed in the last 4 years but that’s the most anyone can hope for from any president.

Do not listen to OP on the “free to stay” statement. In almost every state in the US the police have the ability to “trespass” a person off of private property that is allowed for public use. Restaurants, malls, laundromats, parking lots, gas stations, these are all places that while are open to the public are in fact privately owned and a person can be “trespassed” off them and said person can be arrested if they stay past the cop’s order to leave. “Free to stay” only works if the owner of the private property makes it clear you can stay. Full stop. Also if you manage to conduct a free to stay clarification after a cop tries to trespass you off property you need to take out your phone and start recording and become a Perfect Little Angel because even after that the police can still arrest you for disorderly conduct if you act like a drunken crazy person in front of them.

I believe it. Stuff like this tends to get brushed off when you're younger. Talking to underage girls is usually seen as okay when you're also underage...depending on the age difference. Having alcohol in public would likely just get it confiscated, he'd get a warning, and his parents would be called. Similarly for being noticeably drunk as a minor. Essentially, he wouldn't be held nearly as accountable as he is now. This dude was way too comfortable just casually strolling around in public with his alcohol out. This is basically an example of someone doing things they've always done, but finally reaching an age where there are real consequences for it.
