Before i watch the next part, i can see the defendants mom getting the money back but not the plaintif, because the plaintif wasnt the one getting sick, and she was just a friend, not a family member. My ex-fiance got a refund on a trip when my mom passed away, but he needed a doctors note on that it was a family emergency. If that is the case, thats even more rotten of the defendant, because they did get their part back and just made a profit of not returning the plaintif's money

I'm kind of with the Guy not with his attitude, but if my parents had debt it's their debt. Its $4,000 which is a lot to some people not even that. What if it was 40,000 children shouldn't be expected to pay their parents debt after they die. Last time I checked none of my parents debts. I signed off on to be the beneficiary of if they did die.

Unless it’s a loan, the estate is legally obligated to reimburse the plaintiff. But the burden to prove that the money is actually owed in that amount is legally on the plaintiff. I must admit - it’s beginning to get a bit muddy, though.
