Building a proper grip can do wonders for mitigating recoil while shooting handguns. However, there is more to recoil control than just a proper grip, there's pressure in the right places, stance and other things that you have to practice until they become almost second nature.
And just like with any training, strengthening and activating the right muscles does wonders for recoil management.
A simple grip strength trainer is a good tool to achieve that. I use a 100 Lb. rated trainer and hold that for as long as I can on each hand while I am on meetings or waiting at a red light and get several "reps" per day.
