Managing in Complexity:
How Our Fears of Uncertainty Hurt Us and What To Do About it
Organizations, whether in the public, private or not for profit sectors, were forced to learn how to operate in a virtual environment during the recent Covid-19 Pandemic. Some have continued to work virtually while others have moved to various mixes of in person and virtual workplaces. For many this is a significant change in the organization’s environment and effective managers and leaders need to consider how to adapt their management approach to this new way of working.
Dr. Sara Filbee, author of the new book Managing in Complexity: How our fears of uncertainty hurt us and what to do about it, (Routledge, Taylor & Francis publisher) brings a complexity management perspective to the challenges and opportunities of the virtual and hybrid workplace. The 60-minute session will be moderated by Gina Wilson, Deputy Minister of Indigenous Services Canada and explore this issue based on Sara’s book and the leading-edge research on managing in complexity from the University of Hertfordshire in the UK where she earned her Doctor of Management.
