A old friend of mine, I think he is 95 or 96 years old. Still rides his bike still takes his caravan to Spain. He recently made a mistake and got an old sailboat. I helped him move it and put it up for sale. I think he had a tough few days, it was cold and damp no heating or electric. He then perked up and was his positive self. I asked him, how he does it. How can he still have the energy and drive to keep on trying things and to bounce back and move forward despite his age? He said; you have to see life like a sinewave, and you have to expect it to have ups and downs. He explained it better than that, but that was the gist of what he said. So very similar if not the same as Kevin just explained. But I keep the visual of the sinewave in my minds eye to remind me, ups and downs are part of living. Try and avoid them your avoiding life. Thanks for the great video Kevin.

Can’t explain how much I appreciate the effort that goes into you making, editing and providing these daily clips for so long on the trot. It’s a lot more work than most realise. Love your caring spirit Kevin, and the way you focus your energy into helping so many on this journey. Knowledge is power, and so many of us think it’s a mountain too steep without people like yourself, providing the content and confidence in bringing people to a place of going past alcohol and improving their own lives. Improving your life as soon as the decision is made to quit, that was the difference for me. My dopamine hit came from my own self improvement as the days continue. Take care Simon

You did very good work with this Kevin. Alcohol is not the solution to problems, it may be a temporary coping mechanism but it won’t solve any problems .

Words of wisdom, words of wisdom... You have really the best quit-drinking related channel in KZitem. I wish I could get my sobriety started, but im so helpless facing 1) boredom, 2) anxiety 3) depression 4) helplessness. Sometimes I've felt that facing these doesn't take me anywhere, i can't like handle the stuff without getting even worse. But that's the biggest trap i have there. If there could be a visible progress all the time, it could be easier to motivate.

I have yet to meet a person who can't do this, usually with some help, but everyone can do it.

All the things you listed is actually side effects from drinking. You'll notice this if you go atleast 45 days not drinking. Once you stop drinking and if boredom occurs you have to find hobbies, fitness , anything really to create a new routine. There will be days your too tired or sore to do anything.. this is where I have issues and want to drink. This is where mental talk and strategies come into play. This is a great day to read or listen to podcasts. Work on mental strength, which we all lose along the way of drinking. Keep trying.

I have been non-drinker for 8 months now, but today, when I was in the market, I had a moment when I was about to buy some beer or something to numb myself. This war in Ukraine is increasing my anxiety. And Russia is right next to your country.

This makes two of us. My motivation for getting sober went just down with this war thing started. Thats really a heavy thing to deal with, so Marko, i would say you did very well in not buying beer! Congrats and keep that up! I try the same myself. If i just could

Well done Marko. Let's hope there's a resolution to this one way or another. Dealing with any stressful situation is only made worse in the long run with alcohol, much worse. I hope you can find the strength to stop.

Haha I mean no offense ,i have some family and friends who are religious and I was even raised in a religious house. I can say religion is a root cause of many problems in society and cause of war. This is not to say that I doubt God exists, Im not saying that but Im saying religion is man made and deeply engrained in culture. Being a person of belief is different to a person of religion. Sorry my opinion and you don't need religion to get sober but you need belief. However, I know im going to offend many.. thats my meaning. We should be able to have a conversation about this without some religious person threatening to kill me or suggesting that Im going to hell. Who's to say we aren't in hell on earth? How do we know this is not apart of our sentence.

It's very popular to be an atheist or to declare yourself "spiritual but not part of religion" nowadays. I have learned to filter out what I know is not useful for me. I'm very secure in my faith and pay no attention to it. :)

@@snu3877 Is it though? This has been around for atleast 50 years. Most people are in the category that they don't really know. The word spiritual and the word religious could have many meanings. What does a person mean when they say they are spiritual? it could mean anything. What does it mean when a person says they are religious? for what texts are they following. For example, we can have a Christian but they decide not to follow the entire text but only believe in Jesus ( that is spiritual not religious or is it religious?). I mean no offense, this is only a comment. I'm glad to see people secure in their faith. If your secure you can have friendly conversation with anyone about this.
