On 18 July (Nelson Mandela birthday) the world celebrates Mandela Day by giving 67 minutes of their time to help fight poverty and promote peace and reconciliation. These 67 minutes represent the 67 years Nelson Mandela fought for social justice.
This year, ExoTravels decided to give 67 minutes of their time to a non-profit organisation called Mothers Unite. This after school program provides a safe haven for children aged 3-18 years old, from Lavender Hill in Cape Town -- an area characterised by unemployment, poverty, domestic violence, child abuse, HIV/AIDS, drug/alcohol and gang related crimes. The program offer food, education and leadership opportunity to the children.
The experience for us was unbelievable!
