Still very proud of Mandisa's boldness in choosing a song of her faith on a show like American Idol. It's her legacy and she'll always be remembered for it. Rest in peace, Mandisa.

Be honest - who just HAD to come back to this video & watch Mandisa perform this song again, after the recent tribute to her on Idol?? What power, joy, and conviction she sang this song with!!! This felt like being at a Mandisa concert. I loved how Mandisa was so bold and unashamed in pouring out her faith & love for the Lord on this stage (and beyond). What an example & legacy she left! Also, side note: I loved when the camera showed George Huff in the audience dancing to this!! Love seeing Idol family members supporting one another!! Rest in sweet peace, Mandisa! 🕊️

Yes, she was bold and it was powerful!! When she sang the part "I'm free today", she was FREE to sing boldly and glorify God on a stage where that wasn't the norm!!

The priceless gift of the message that she was bringing out she didn’t hold back because she knew exactly what she was singing that it was the Truth. Some people are bound in shackles and don’t even know it, but here’s the test when you can praise God with that passion and true love for God then you can say you love Him and know Him too. Many people are shackled and can’t do it. Just wanna Praise Him!!!🎤

@@pamelalawhon3536 That's exactly what I thought! They don't get it, because they don't know HIM, and the power of chains breaking away! There have been several gospel artists over the years singing truth to the various judges... they can't say they never heard or never knew. I hope they will know before their time is up!

INCREDIBLY disrespectful of Paula, Simon and especially Ryan. She doesn’t want people coming to the “church of Mandisa” to come “worship Mandisa.” Imagine if they told a Hindu that was like “eating the best beef I ever had” or something. So insulting to her faith.
@GilbertGTV

It was a very misplaced attempt at a compliment. I don’t think Paula knows enough about devoted Christian faith to know how disrespectful a comment like that was. I give Paula grace. She clearly meant it to be a compliment but yeah, I felt the same cringe Mandisa did when she said it. ❤

Paula thought she was making a compliment. Too many people say they attend the church of oprah. As Christians we don't want to be idolized but then again Mandisa was auditioning to become the "American Idol."

The judges who don't get this song are the unbelievers who do not have the love of God in their hearts. Paula is the only one who got it. Mandisa stayed poised with her inimitable smile in spite of the harsh criticism. "Indulgent" worship song? I'd say indulgent for the Lord, Jesus.

It's a great song - and Mandisa's heartfelt love for Jesus is as big as her voice- or bigger. But the lower notes and the slow start of the song did not showcase the beauty and power of Mandisa's 'money' notes.

Thank god they corrected it cause the last time they messed up the numbers (Season 4 top 11 show) we had a full recap episode with judges and contestants watching back the performance from the prior night, with the correct numbers/restarting the votes. Top 11 from season 4 was fine because it was a night of great performances. Now watch back Top 10 night from season 5, would be painfull.

I remember people bothering about the gospel choice.. I dont mind it, specially because this ended up being her style. This is actually a great gospel song but lord, what happened to her vocals this week? She started sooo off pitch, went sharp/pitch on the high notes... Only the part before the bridge was kinda good, but still.. He band was in one key and she was trying to sing on a higher key the full song. Its like she couldn hear herself at all.

She was on a different assignment that week. To win souls for Jesus. I pray many cried out to be saved . Even today as they look back in memory of her life. I love her no response to their criticism. She knew God would take care of it. ❤

It's got a great message and she does it well, but it didn't show her vocal talent. A bad choice, I think. Even worse were the judges stupid remarks afterwards about the "Church of Mandisa." Rude and uncalled for.
