Perfection. I loved the background guitar on live and album, but don't miss it here. He can do everything that is needed and more. He fixed me. This is at least the tenth listen. Thinking of the 70's.

I was so cynical of today’s music. I don’t hear much on that moves me. Then in a period of two weeks I discovered Travis Meadows and this guy. This guy is incredible. Great singer , great guitar player, magic songwriter. I Love the acoustic versions like this one better than with the band. His phrasing is absolutely perfect.! More acoustic versions please. Between you and Travis Meadows. My love for songwriting and finding magic has been reborn . Thanks with all my heart .

Thanks for all of the great music that you two have brought into the world. I’d love to hear your take on Nanci Griffith’s ‘Gulf Coast Highway’. There’s a pretty cool recording of Bruce and Patti sound checking it back in ‘88. RIP Nanci.

"Didn't Fix Me" I went to see a healer With that mic strapped to his face Talked about which habits to surrender And which habits to embrace And for the next few days or so I was Feeling pretty good But it didn't fix me I even started volunteering With the local Sacred Heart We feed the homeless on some weekends We pick up trash in all the parks And even though we're cleaning up The whole damn neighborhood It didn't fix me It didn't fix me like I thought it would I got that book you recommended About the spy in East Berlin I really like the way it ended How he forgives his friend who turns him in And I think I see what you were saying 'bout how Technically it should, but It didn't fix me It didn't fix me like I thought it would It didn't fix me It didn't fix me I finally got a nomination For an award that I don't need But I said that out of obligation I really spent hours on my speech I thanked my biggest inspirations And the good folks back in Hollywood But it didn't fix me It didn't fix me like I thought it would Didn't fix me Didn't fix me I finally found someone that loves me And to her I will be true She sees the ways in which I'm ugly And loves me for those reasons too And even though I'm feeling stronger than I Ever thought I could It still didn't fix me It didn't fix me It didn't fix me like I thought it would Didn't fix me Didn't fix me Didn't fix me

The Gospel fixed me. Such a beautiful song, and I agree, it’s quite sad. But with the Good News of the Gospel we have hope in Jesus Christ who came to restore (or fix) the world. The major religions of the world, or spiritual movements, tell you how to find your way to peace, or to God. But Christianity is the only one that says God came to us, to save us and take us as we are, broken down and in need of a savior. As the song implies, we can chase fixes or fulfillments in our life through our own efforts, our work, love and companionship, but that alone will never fix us. Left to ourselves we won’t find a true fix or fulfillment in life. We need the Grace of Jesus Christ. Merry Christmas to all the Dawes fans out there, the Creator of the universe humbled Himself by sending Jesus into the world, to teach and to suffer a painful death and spiritual separation from God so that we wouldn’t have to experience it. Imagine someone taking on the consequences of every mistake and every intentionally wrong thing you’ve done… and will do. Do you know anyone that would do that? “The Son of Man came not to be served but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.” Mark 10:45
