Wow sounds quite different to the HB version but great all the same. Their music was so deep yet beautiful at this time.

Why is their rhythm guitarist like an Aldi version of Richey?
@elizabethhenry6605

He isn't. He can actually play, which is more than can be said of st. Richey.

@@elizabethhenry6605 You appear to be misinformed, Richey played, not at a great level but basic rhythm, he also wrote all the bands best lyrics which in itself is a massive achievement.

@@annihilatedallure3882 As a Manics fan of over 20 years, I can safely assure you I am not misinformed. Richey wrote roughly 50% of the lyrics, along with Nicky (the exception being the Holy Bible - but Nicky still wrote for that album). Richey didn't play on any of the albums, but he did make a noise on stage. I'll give him that. I saw the Manics first back in 1998 when they played the Ulster Halll. They were amazing. So were all the other gigs I saw. But after they got Wayne Murray, their live sound improved. It did. That cannot be denied. And calling Wayne an "Aldi Richey" is not just embittered, it is wrong. He isn't any version of Richey. He is a session musician brought in only for live tours and rehearsals. He doesn't contribute lyrics, he isn't officially a member of the band and he has no say in the albums etc. So get off his back, yeah? Richey hasn't been "replaced".

@@elizabethhenry6605 I cba to argue the toss over this however I will say that in my personal opinion The Manics were an amazing band when "St. Richey" (to quote your twee little dig) was in them. I don't like the Manics post Richey they are a different band in many ways and as that is my opinion I have the right to it.

@@annihilatedallure3882 Great! You have that opinion. I happen to think they were an amazing band both with and without Richey and I will be forever grateful that they found the strength and fortitude to carry on without him. Nick is a brilliant lyricist, James and Sean are amazingly talented musicians. The music scene would be all the poorer without them. But Richey's followers need to stop punishing them for their success post-Richey. He made his choice and put them (and not to mention his family) through hell. They don't deserve your snide comments. So keep them to yourself.
