You are right about old instrumentation in Haendels Messiah. Also about MARIA.Her best years were from the debut in Paris till the early sixties. And she had luck with Corelli. Not like Caballé with Vickers. He sounded horrible. His voice didn't go well with anyone. As for your gastro and bar experiences you are a divo.Specially when you enter a place and have everybody looking at you by your deep luscious voice.Take care of it in those choirs.Dont burn it.I can't believe you have Fleming excelling and you in a choir. But so are things.Happy birthday too.Its nice you share it with Frank.Ill recommend you a song WHEN THE WORLD WAS YOUNG.Enjoy your family and your Greek dishes and have the best year possible.Step by step like you say with not too much planning..Maybe you could write a guide of good and higienic manners at the table.Lots of 💕 and luck dear Manoli.

- If only they would make the Jean-Claude Malgoire Messiah available, so we could enjoy the uncut gigue-rhythm Rejoice greatly, as well as the seldom-heard bass version of But who may abide, in 3/8 time all the way through, with no agitato passages. It's not as dramatic as the alto version with the violent agitati at For he is like a refiner's fire, but it's nice to hear the true bass version once in a while. - As soon as you mentioned crab cakes Benedict, I Google'd it and found exactly which restaurant you were talking about! 🤣 - What rude people sitting next to you at the bar! What idiots! THEY sat next to YOU! And then COMPLAINED about it! They made their own problem! -In re: the entire restaurant staring at you after you said 'HELLO!!!': In my youth I had a speaking voice that really carried, without my meaning it to. At one point in my youth, I worked as a desk clerk in a hotel, and once a lady came up and asked for directions to a local landmark. 'WELL,' I said, 'YOU TURN LEFT OUTSIDE THE STREET DOOR, THEN GO DOWN TO THE CORNER AND -' 'You don't have to scream' said the lady. 'WHAT ARE YOU TALKING ABOUT? I'M NOT SCREAMING!' I screamed. It was like not knowing my own strength except vocally rather than physically. Also, I was a rather large fellow in those days, and I think that, combined with my uncouth bellowing, tended to put people off. Oh well. - Nikolaus Harnoncourt is absolutely the greatest Bach conductor. John Eliot Gardiner, Robert Shaw, Otto Klemperer and Karl Richter only wish they had one-tenth the spiritual and musical savoir faire in Bach that Harnoncourt had. - Tito Manlio is LONG, especially in the Vittorio Negri recording that was given you as a gift. Counting bathroom breaks and snacks, it's the better part of five hours. Five hours of gorgeousness, might I add. - CHARLES DICKENS IS NOT LONG-WINDED. I can see how a person who doesn't like literature might get that impression, but the impression is WRONG. - The idea of a Manoli-doppelgänger out there on the loose is horrifying. - Incidentally, at this point you have said 'I digress' three times. Happy New Year!
