All well and good however, I'll stick with the ol' stand-by; bite-sized PBJ's. Since I have Celiac, I use Schar's Baguette rolls cut down to eight pieces per long roll. At 66 years of age, I find that comfort food doesn't work, but the food Manon eats is a bit beyond my budget. I buy grains. If Lance Armstrong new about eating raw sprouting grains, cheating wouldn't be part of his legacy, I think! Sprouting grains, nuts, seeds, coconut oil and raw honey cost me about $1000 a year if I buy in bulk. That's three 40lb pails of raw honey and one 40lb pail of coconut oil, and 50 lbs bags of assorted grains and seeds. Buckwheat is a very powerful seed. I've cycled 96 miles, spent 5 hours in the city, and returned before sunrise eating only sprouting buckwheat. After sprouting, crush ( I use a hand crank wheat grass juicer) mix with the oil. Pack it into a tin. Go. The coconut oil is a lard until it's warmed up, so I just keep the snack in a tin and use a spoon.
