They're not even breaking 20 notes per second, never mind 30. Just because a couple of old coots play in unison with a sequencer backing track and make a wild claim in the title of a video, doesn't mean they actually got anywhere near it. All you need to do is slow the clip down to 25% and then tap out each note using a bpm detector.
@Chekanchik

They should make a recording, zoom it in the DAW, and show the oscillogram. In that way, you can see each string pluck and count them. Now it's just a showing off

Yet, the licks he played certainly SEEM to sound faster than Michael Angelo Batio’s playing. There’s another guy, Roy Marchbank, whose playing sound faster than BOTH Shawn Lane AND Michael Angelo Batio. Music isn’t a competition, and all these guys have actual MUSIC they have written, so the speed thing is just ONE aspect of their playing. But checkout Roy Marchbank- that guy’s playing is truly mind blowing!

MAB is actually almost 70 (67 according to Wikipedia). Dude is insane to be playing at this level at his age. He's clearly dedicated himself to his craft. Look how clean his picking and playing is. Not a single bit of slop. Every note is clear. I don't think even Yngwie played at that level in his 20's, and from my casual observation from the outside as someone who's not a dedicated fan or follows him closely, he appears to have gotten pretty sloppy over the years in comparison to his "peak". (Don't get me wrong, he's still obviously leagues above most guitarists. He just doesn't seem to be as dedicated to being a virtuoso as he seemed to be in the 80's) And of course Joey is equally amazing being on the same level as MAB at 69. And he's a _bassist,_ lol
