MARC, the Maryland Area Rail Commuter service, runs commuter trains on three different lines on the Maryland side of Washington DC. Train 880 is the final eastbound/inbound service from Brunswick, MD in the morning, and we caught the 5/17 edition here at Point of Rocks.
Both commuter services into Washington DC operate a push-pull model, and this is a train with locomotives pushing on the rear, this morning a GP39H-2 (70) and an SC44 (84).
This is the second stop for the train after its origin at Brunswick, and it will pause to service Dickerson, Barnesville, Boyds, Germantown, Metropolitan Grove, Gaithersburg, Washington Grove, Rockville, Garrett Park, Kensington, Silver Spring and finally Washington DC Union Station with a timetabled arrival time of 9:21am.
