There is a shitload of virtuoso guitar players on KZitem, all technique and speed, and they all SUCKS. Ribot is great because he is a creator and an artist of the instrument. He has soul. Thats the point.

Ribot is incredibly multifaceted on guitar, never banal and always complex. He is always amazingly independent in this world full of clever minds and chattering idiots - a blessing.

Because he is a overrated guitar player, boring power chords, his soul is in his voice, but certainly not in his playing my friend. And he is only regarded as good because he martyred himself by unloading a shotgun in his face.

My favorite thing about Ribot is how he tows the line between brilliance and moments of sloppiness. You’d be mistaken to assume any of the sloppiness is unintentional.

Weird comments about Cobain. Anyway, Johnny Marr used Jaguars before him. Not sure when Marc started using them. I don't think he did back in Lounge Lizard days.
