What a busy March for us Doughnutters. Week one consisted of 5 gigs. we started it off by checking into our first Travelodge of the month (out of 4). Gallivanted round Norwich for a bit, got denied shots at our favourite wetherspoons and eventually ended up at the waterfront in Riverside where we saw Crowbar; backed by Inhuman nature and Kulk ("Sulk" if you ask drunk Courtney). to end the night we had some very disappointing cheesy chips to soak up that hangover in the morning (spoiler alert: it didn't work).
awoken at 6:30am by roadworks, we make our well hung... over selves to Sheffield where we checked into hotel 2 and made out way to the venue, Corporation to see Napalm Death, backed by Pig Destroyer (I f'ing love balloons), Primitive Man and Wormrot (Goatgrind).
after a 2 day bender of gigs we woke early and "Hoped" that the next place we ended up, peaked our interest... we jumped onto a train and got off at Hope station to climb a giant hill in Peak District. it was lovely. we even made friends with many sheep who thought they were "beeeears".
we will definitely be going back here again, so stay tuned in the future for a possible full vlog on that.
next day came and went. we tried spending it in Sheffield but realised we didn't like the place much so we moved onto our next destination which was Nottingham. ended the night not finding holes in the lost city, that was adventure golf. it was alright.
... I'm running out of character space here...
next day we went from exploring a cave to finding justice in a museum to then a very cool pub called Pin n pendulum to then yet another cool pub called Tap n Tumbler ( #Blamephil ) where our third gig awaited us. the line up was Born Zero, Gutlocker and Deified. a very good gig (support small and local band where possible!).
we ended the night with yet more drinks and woke up ready to go of more exploring, more drinking and this time some yummy pizza at Pizza Punks. after that we went to the forth gig of the week which was Nottinghams m2tm (metal 2 the masses) heat 8 show, where unfortunately we missed the first band but did see the winners of that round which was Pagan Sword. very much deserved. hope they do well!
which then leads us to our 3rd and final day in Notts before heading back. we went hard with this night, doing what we do best. from sampling all the Beaver towns we could find, to alcoholic milkshakes. we wanted to make sure we regretted this time for our long and painful train journey the next day. did we succeed? of course we did! we were massively hung!
But not as bad as the week after, when we went to London to see Cryptopsy and Atheist (backed by Almost Dead) at the Underworld in Camden. shot after shot, pint after pint the Worlds end didn't know what hit them... neither did we, as the pit for that gig was like running into brick walls! after that we didn't want the party to end, so we dragged ourselves to the Dev, where all the cool kids like to go... yeah we're cool now. didn't feel it in the morning though. oh boy was that a rough time. hopefully not as rough as watching this video.
as always, thanks for taking the time to check it out. it really does mean a lot!
