Temperature, timing(as in seasons), being quiet, being prepared and fishing 5 times a week are how you catch fish like this. Practice and preparation sir!

I live in Twin Falls. Great video. I've never fished that stretch of water in March. Congrats on catching one of the big browns. Regarding fly tying: I'm an old guy. When I was 13 (back in 1969) I started tying flies commercially. It was explained to me that there are two kinds of flies: Those that catch fish and those that catch fishermen. When I tied for the shops, I tied to catch fishermen. But to this day, when I tie for myself, I purposely tie "ugly style". They always out-fish the commercial flies. Good job landing that hog.

I lived in the Magic Valley for many years most recently in Jerome 2019 and 2022 before I moved to Oregon. My best trout there was a 30-inch Cutthroat off the Twin Falls boat dock with a jig released. Robert Pachard was my witness.I love fishing below the Hanson Bridge for Cutthroats and hybrids and Smallmouth. I've caught some really good Cutthroat and Vineyard Creek just Upstream from the damn but the last time I fixed it all I caught was rainbows I was disappointed to see how Vineyard creek has degraded over time I would love to try to rehabilitate that stream. Back in the 80s I was there fishing one memorial weekend when it opened me and my buddy caught 8 Cutthroat between 4 and 6 lbs.

In August you get a large brown mayfly hatch down on the Snake River their big mayflies over1" long a fellow that delivered oxygen to my grandfather turn me on to it he would fish from Camp roach down past Box Canyon fishing banks of aquatic vegetation going into deep water with an emerger nymph and he caught a 24 and a 28-inch rainbow one day. Friend of mine who Paving a driveway at Gourley Island by the highway 30 bridge between Hagerman and Buhl caught a 22 lb 9 oz rainbow off the guy's dock at lunch time on a spoon.

Point of Rocks access in less than ideal conditions usually offers awesome fishing. Great video and I understand the amount of effort involved, that's a decent amount of hiking along the river bank from the parking area to where you hooked the big one even when there isn't all that snow on the ground. Thanks for sharing the video, brings back lots of great memories for me.

Curious on the reason for a float tube in what seems like a fairly small creek from bank to bank. Is there an advantage you feel you have as opposed to approaching from the bank and staying warm?
@Travel.Fish.Film.
Жыл бұрын
That section of the river is private and can only be accessed through a float tube. As long as you access public and get out public, while staying in the water you can fish it.

Great video however when you throw states and locations out there the people come and ruin everything. First rule of thumb.... never throw a name of where you fish (state, stream, county, public/private) out there. NEVER!

So fellas couple little critiques. First and foremost I was a hunting and fishing guide for many years here in Idaho and Oregon. Probably many of those years were before you were born ...and one thing that pisses a lot of people off is when you name the Fishery. Fly fishing streamers in South Idaho would have been sufficient. So just giving you a little unsolicited advice. And now I will give you a compliment. That's a tough fishery so congratulations on the nice catch. And I mean this in all seriousness thank you for not saying let's go every time you catch a fish. I don't know why that frustrates the f*** and annoys me so much. But your generation says let's go like Tom Brady after everything and I got to tell you for some reason it absolutely annoys the f*** out of me so thank you for only saying it once. I was waiting to hear it again and I was going to turn you off so good on you for showing restraint.
