It has been almost a year, but I finally had time and energy to finish another original fife and drum piece of mine, once again for my series "Marches des Nations à la Guerre de Sept Ans", composed by me in the style of the 18th century. The music is inspired by the combattants of the Seven Years War (1756-1763).
This time it's "L'Autrichienne" ("the Austrian"). It is heavily inspired by Tirolean folk music from the 18th century, as you might hear. The image is a detail of a wall painting by Karl von Blaas, a 19th century Austrian painter. It was made in 1865, and shows Austrian cavalrymen charging at the Prussians in the Battle of Kolín in 1757, the first Prussian defeat of the Seven Years War.
Enjoy!
