Let's be honest Jamie got famous by appealing to drunks and students then grew in popularity by joining a government campaign. Then got bigger and started selling utensils and books all the while spitting on food with the way he talks. Where as Marco is literally a legendary chef.

Don't forget to mention Marco trained some of the most renown chefs in the UK and Euro. Jamie's more known for an internet crowd, not with people whom have his food. He's a recipe list guy whom had a ton of his cash based on following recipes, not for being a chef.

Spitting on food?! It's the exact opposite of that. Cooking with low quality ingredients and getting the max of them is at least as hard as cooking top meals with the best products out there. It shows respect and appreciation for the ingredients and it takes creativity to do it. I enjoy MPW as well but that doesn't mean you have to downplay Jamie Oliver's achievement and talent.

Jamie also cried about his business going bankrupt meanwhile he gave himself a 1.5 million bonus from those businesses. That's how much he cared... If he gave himself a normal salary some restaurants would probably be operating fine today. @@Mathewmartialart and I also am only going off the above comment. Jamie clearly was bothered (hence he cast the first stone), then he magically pretended he doesn't care when called out (why the sudden change?). Marco on the other hand simply replied and nothing more, he was uncaring and unconcerned with Jamie's reaction. Jamie's only hope to save face was to pretend he was the same. Now I am a fan of both Marco and Jamie, but Jamie's youth seems to have gotten the better of him here. This is how us humans grow, we learn from our youthful mistakes.

The thing is, Marco's response was such that he could've as well have said "The lion does not concern himself with the opinions of sheep", that was pretty much his message, but he did indeed give a response instead, and bother with that amount of concern and effort, wasn't going to be THAT arrogant as not to concern himself at all, because... well, we don't live in Westeros or a feodal society.

fuck's sake every MPW fan is bringing this up as if it makes him better at everything, firstly michelin isnt an ultimate authority, its highly valued but every system has it's flaws. secondly jamie specializes in making practical home recipes that anyone can make its like calling a marathon runner useless because hes not a good sprinter. and thirdly and most importantly food dosent even fucking matter, jamie oliver was criticizing his personality, which is petty, vindictive and narcissistic, his ability to make food negates that argument about as much as his volley ball skills. i respect MPW's abilities as a chef but his personality along with his fanbase is rife with snobbish egotists and the fact that so many are trying to force the michelin stars in a conversation about personailty proves this

Let's just get something straight: Jamie is mainstream chef. Popular, gets onto your tele and magazines. Ramsay is a genuine high class chef who is trying to be mainstream at the same time. Marco is just a legendary high class chef. It's like Jamie is a corolla, it's what the masses drive and makes the most money. Ramsay a BMW 7 series, high class, imaginative and unrealistically tries to be in everyone's garage. Marco is a Phantom Ghost. Limited Edition at that. Now, a corolla shouldn't even pretend its in the same league as a Rolls. Sure it makes more money and more popular. But it should never try to criticize the Ghost for having too much real walnut for instance. Their philosophy is different. Corolla would say 'real wood adds weight and price. Let's use plastic that looks like wood'. But real walnut ages well, gives it a certain smell, and sense of occasion. Marco may psychologically be tough on other chefs but that's just how the industry is. He's helping pros and restaurateurs, not moms in the home kitchen like Jamie's audience.

I see Marco giving compliments to people so frequently, and even encouraging and inspiring comments to them too. He's also more expressive. I think he's very nurturing as a mentor. Gordon on the other hand is neither, and I don't see Jamie criticising him. What's up with that? Seriously, if Marco is a fucking bully what does that make fucking Gordon fucking Ramsay? Ever since I know about Marco, it seems that he's known for being someone who's really intimidating and fierce, but after watching countless videos, some of hell's kitchen and an entire season of Master Chef Australia, I think he's a fucking great mentor. He's intimidation only goes so far as being an authoritative figure the way parents are to a child, teachers are to their students, so they'd fucking listen, and are serious during the learning. Gordon on the other hand is clearly psychologically abusing them with insults. It may not mean much to him, but what does he know how his words makes people feel, and he expects people to feel differently, he disregards and dismiss people's feeling. From what I see in both Hell's Kitchen and MasterChef, Marco seems like he's trying hard to actually keep up with that image that the media seems to portray him as, maybe it was the demands from the producer. But they hardly look like real, like him honing a knife after someone makes a mistakes, it's almost comical. What's obvious is, he's able to give people compliments straight to their faces rather often. He even smiles too, and seems genuinely pleased when you've done well or improved. A leader can't possibly be all bubbly and kind all the time, he has to instill certain assertiveness and fear to the subordinates.

pete smith I'm sorry, but I think people who say that Marco is sociopathic or psyocpathic get it form the TV shows he's in. I've seen shows he was in when he was much younge. He does seem a bit different, he can be a little moody, but still reasonable. He's always been somewhat intimidating into what he seems to be capable of doing, but I've never heard or seen him actually lashing out.

+holohulolo Marco spent his youth building that formidable image of his and Gordon learned from him. Both men's temperament certainly drove their shows. Marco with that quiet intensity and Gordon with his foul mouth, but they are much nicer men in real life. What is unfortunate is that Marco had the notorious habit that when he falls out with people, he makes it public and there is no going back. The most regrettable one IMO was with Albert Roux.

Being quite honest, i think marco got much less abrasive as time went on. These videos from him in the late 80s were quite scary haha

Oliver has tried to make cooking fun and approachable for the average person. He can make some rather complex things. I think it was that you began to appreciate the innovative foods of the heavy hitters more as you got more into cooking. Marco is more of a creator and Jamie is more a well practiced preacher I would say.

The fact that Marco is the youngest chef to get 3 Michelin stars and has proved his mettle cooking for multiple Michelin starred places before starting his own makes him more of a 'well-practiced preacher' than Jaimie will ever aspire to. The man has cooked for decades in a high-pressure, high-stakes environment, his talent and knowledge isn't something to scoff at I'd say. Not to hate on Jaimie too tho, but the person he's being compared to is in a different league.

Marco only demands absolute perfection. Flawless victory. Is that too hard to expect? If yes, then get out of his kitchen. Marco's kitchen is for closers only.

Best thing Jamie Oliver has ever done is toss a salad in the back seat of a car (and that is NOT a lie)
