This video shows the semi-classical Marcus model (also called Marcus-Levich-Jortner Theory, MLJ) in three dimensions. The rate on the z-axis is plotted as a function of the Gibbs free energy change and the solvent reorganization energy on the x and y axes. This is a linear plot; often log plots are used in this area. We now slowly change the energy of the vibration that couples to the electronic transition. The increasing spacing relates to the increasing energy of the vibration that we put into the model.
