depends on what you're looking to achieve and how much time you have. let me tell you what i did. at the start i only had 30ish minute to workout so for the first 3 month ( this was after our son was born) later i had more opportunity to workout so i switched to 2 20 minute session throughout the day morning and evening each targeting 2 muscles. all together i probably worked out 3x a week. now i can work out 6 times a week if its not a holiday and i do a variation of pus pull leg. in the morning do a 10 minute full body just to wake the body up with ketlebells.
@LegallySwole

small typo, i did full body workout for the first 3 month :). that was to keep the results i had when i switched from a commercial gym to home gym. in my honest opinion full body is great because even if you "miss a workout" you still did something assuming you hit 2/3 of the days. other workout splits if you miss a workout it throws everything out of order making you feel bad about missing a workout.

I just put together the 990. I think I'm going to get alot of use out of it. Was easy to put together... looks like the only difference between the 990 and the 980, is the one in this video has an extra 50 pounds.
@LegallySwole
Жыл бұрын
right, the only use for the extra 50 lb is for shrugs. i seriously dont enjoy going super heavy on other excises because it's not as smooth. the weight distribution just isn't the same. in my opinion if anybody's maxing out the 150lb on most exercises they're better off getting specialized machines for full range of motion.

Thanks for the video, I'm looking into acquiring a Marcy Home gym and this was very helpful. I do have a question though - are you satisfied with the 150 lb model? I noticed they have a 200lb version but it's twice as much, and was wondering if it would be worth it to "future proof". Have you had any limitations with the weight?
@LegallySwole
Жыл бұрын
No I hardly use the full stack. The way the machine is build I wouldn’t use full stack. The front end lifts up when I’m doing bend over rows at like 90lb and I have to step on the legs which I don’t like. What I did was got a barbell and I just superset in machine. This works perfectly. The extra cost i would have used on the 200lb model I got free weights instead 👌🏿

How is the resistance on this machine? Does it offer a true 150 lbs or does it feel like half the weight?
@LegallySwole
Жыл бұрын
For the exercises that you can do heavy weights with (I.e Chest Press, bend over row, latt pulldiwnd, shrugs ) it feels heavy but I dont go heavy because the angles don’t feel right trying to control all that weight. Since it’s a one size fit all I focus more on contraction than lifting super heavy. For a while I felt some muscle imbalance because I was trying to lift heavy like I do at a gym.

Thank you for this video. I'm 5 ft 7 beginner female who is afraid of the gym. So I was hesitant on getting this. Would you say this is better than the manual version where you add the weights?
@LegallySwole
Жыл бұрын
I can’t say this is better because I have not used the manual version, but I can say the weight will definitely feel different when contracting the muscles. Usually cables tend to feel smooth. Only downside I see is changing weight plates all the time versus a single pin to select the weight. I always encourage people that if you learn how to contract the muscle correctly it makes no difference what you use, just know everything has a down side right. Machines are good for machine strength and getting a particular look/physique easier while manual weights tend to help more with stabilization. I’m actually very curious by the way. Could you send reply the name of the manual machine you’re referring to?

Depends, if your budget is low and you don’t have the space this is a good gym to start with to be able to target almost all muscles in some manner. If you can afford a larger budget a squat rack setup with barbells and plates is better. Some companies sell cable attachments for cage systems or you can get a all in one cage system. Range of motion is better The leg extension and leg curl alone is still useful on the Marcy gym; I will say I still use it for those 2 functions

If this is a 2 man job. Go to step 7 and 8 and remove the weight plates keeping the pully intact. This should allow you to pick up and lay the machine in the truck bed. If it’s a 1 man job then you’ll have to remove the pulley string and also go to steps 3 and 8. The main bolts used were the 20mm @( 3/4”) the 70mm @ (2-3/4”). The #5 Allen key was used mainly but a few required the #4 or #6. Also you’ll need pliers for the nuts ( 3/4”). Hope this helps

Yea of course. Try running just the wires through the positions first. It should fit with a bit of slack, if so then screw in at the ends and from there you can start installing the circular disks. The top one seem the easiest. The transition at the middle is tricky but if you have someone to help, they can hold the strings while you tighten the bolts for the middle section ( that’s where the top and bottom pulley meets)
