When hearing the applause at the end there is something I would like to point out. Don't you think that that the applause comes like an explosion of relief after the incredible tension she had built up in all that preceded??? Callas unica, the one and only....

After over 60 years, her Traviata has not been equaled, technically, musically, vocally, expressively, dramatically, etc. Same goes for her Norma, Sonnambula, Bolena, and many others, and most notably her Medea. As Rudolf Bing said, she could do more with one move of her hand than others could do in a whole act. Now did she do it? There is no explanation. You can analyze what she did, where she breathed, and you can imitate it, but the results will be totally empty. Genius cannot be explained or imitated. I love what Katia Ricciarelli said back in the '80's: Never believe any soprano who says they don't listen to Callas. What every soprano does in the morning is pour herself a glass of orange juice, put on a Callas record, and try to figure out HOW she did it.

Im just having goosebumps the whole time. After she finished that last chest note on "addio," the crowd cannot contain themselves! They knew that what they are watching will remain peerless till the end of the universe!

"The moment the curtains opened reality stopped existing behind me and reality was on stage.. it was like secretly looking into Paradise from a small keyhole"
