This live performance is a summary of Maria Miguel Pires’ recital accompanied by pianist Prof. Victor Pinho, as part of the “Prémio Palácio da Bolsa 2024” awarded by the Associação Comercial do Porto and the Conservatório de Música do Porto. They had the opportunity to perform in one of Portugal’s most iconic venues, the “Salão Árabe” (Arab Hall) of the Palácio da Bolsa in Porto.

Maria Miguel Pires, aged 17, hails from Porto and attends the Porto Music Conservatory in Professor Cecília Fontes’ vocal class. Her young career boasts performances in various venues, including Casa da Música, Museu dos Coches, Teatro São Carlos, and Milton Court Concert Hall. She has participated in masterclasses with renowned names such as Bernarda Fink, Elisabete Matos, Isabel Alcobia and Armando Possante.
Among her numerous accolades, Maria Miguel Pires has received:
1st Prize in the Internal Singing Contest at CMP (Conservatório de Música do Porto) across all five age categories (2019 Cat.E, 2021 Cat.D, 2022 Cat.C, 2023 Cat.B and 2024 Cat.A).
1st Prize in the National Singing Contest for Secondary School Conservatories in all three age categories (2022 Cat.C, 2023 Cat.B and 2024 Cat.A).
Prize for ‘Best Interpretation of a Piece by a Portuguese Author’ in the National Singing Contest for School Conservatories with the theme ‘Écos da serra’ by A. Ribeiro Neves (2022).
1st Prize in the B Category at the National Singing Contest in Gaia (2022).
1st Prize in the Vienna Caneres International Contest (Junior Soprano Artist 2023).
In September 2024, she will pursue her higher studies as a scholarship student at the Royal College of Music in London.
