This song was written and produced in 2008, to be used in a presidential campaign to promote Barack Obama.
Later, it was passed to be part of the soundtrack of the film Precious, having two versions: OST and Itunes already available in YT. "100%" was replaced by the song "I Can See in Color" by Mary J. Blige.
After discarding the song on Soundtrack, it was used for something bigger, in the AT&T campaign in 2010 Winter Olympic.
The music video was filmed during the Angels Advocate Tour, which would have a canceled duet album with the same name, a reinterpretation of the Memoirs album. This track in its full version of 5 minutes, would be a bonus to differentiate from the existing versions.
The commercial video AT&T contains parts of the official instrumental, as well as an Outtake of a photoshoot by James White for the album Memoirs.
The singer Leah Labelle was also considered to sing this song.
2 seconds of the official version of this song (among others unreleased) were released by Mariah Carey herself in an interview with Nick Cannon who filled in for regular host Ryan Seacrest at American Top 40.
The demo is sung by Crystal Nicole, aka as Cristyle in 2008/2009.
