I understand her, but that's just not (entirely) true. There are lots of moments in those early years when she wore revealing clothes (not as much as today, but still). This show took place in January, maybe the weather was cold. At any rate, she got this style in this era, but there were other cases when she appeared with more revealing clothes also in the time of this album. Even though she wasn't actually covered from head to toe for all those years, what I understand is that she wanted to wear even more daring clothes, which she eventually did from the Butterfly era.
@HallOfMimi
5 жыл бұрын
Eloy I don’t think it’s because the weather was cold, Tommy Mottola really did make her wear from Head To Toe even though she had some revealing clothes on some years on her prime but she always had to wear dresses or coats or tight pants then of course Butterfly Era that’s when she had freedom on wearing certain clothes or doing R&b songs not mostly focused on Pop. However, Mariah fought back to make songs like R&b and Tommy Mottola saying that it should be Pop so what happened was Fantasy became Pop/R&b and it turned out well and plus Tommy Mottola really wanted Mariah to do more Pop/Soul which Mariah didn’t really like to do and Mariah really want to R&b. It’s because Pop was more considered to do but then Mariah Carey changed the Music Industry by not just doing Pop, collaborating with other Artists and doing more Hip-Hop/R&b/Pop Together that’s why if you look at today, mostly people do Pop/Rap/Hip-Hop/R&b.

As I said, from the beginning of her career, Carey has worn clothes that revealed cleavage and belly button, so it's not true that she ALWAYS was covered from head to toe (we have many examples in this very Daydream era, just look at the videoclips for Fantasy or Always be my baby, as well as several concerts). It just isn't. And regarding the other things you said, I know them very well, but that's not the point of my comment. :-)
@veronicaalmeda8014

Gawd she was not covered up all for 6 years and there are plenty of pictures to prove it. She wore this outfit in white and black on different occasions for her Daydream tour. The rest of the time she had normal clothes and lots of mini skirts and a fair amount of cleavage, it just wasn't too obvious cause she hadn't had surgery yet. There's an event she went with Mottola and she had a crop top style with a long silk skirt and the top was quite revealing and she didn't even have a bra. If Mottola didn't set certain amounts of limits on her career image we would have had "Stella" Mariah sooner, you know, like the time she went to an event in nothing but lingerie and a biker jacket.

Mariah was right when she said “I have a problem with a lot of mics” because the mic in this video didn’t capture her falsettos well. It didn’t pick up any of the air in her voice. The audio engineer also just kept her volume at one level wasn’t really collaborating with Mariah’s register changes.

Notice @3:30 up to @3:40 the phrases "there's no beginning and there is no end, feels like i"m dreaming but i'm not sleeping" In the other performances of fantasy during the daydream era only, she only mouthed those words with the background vocals and not actually sang it, but in this perfromance, she sang it and i feel like she even emphasized it, and the face she made while she was singing that part was different. And she seems to be not feeling the performance. Maybe this was the point where the marriage was starting to crack? She's saying something here. Or am i just over analyzing? Btw i'm a fan.

I think she doesn’t sing that background “feels like I’m dreaming...” part b/c shes usually preparing to belt the “it’s just a sweet” head voice note that follows. In this performance, it was rare that she did both the background note & belt, but the belt led note was delayed from the track (if you notice that “off” moment at 3:40). But overall, you’re right, something was off on this day and I hope she explains in detail, in her memoir.

This performance was in Jan '96. The Daydream Tour was in March-June '96 so this was certainly not her 'vocal decline'. Mariah has always had off-ish live performances even since '90. Am I the only fan who thinks Tomy actually helped her career? Besides all the crazy antics he had and control over her, he did tell her what sound she should have and how to keep things clean and classy with no flash BECAUSE it really wasn't needed. Her voice had the power and grace people craved and she didn't necessarily need to show off her breast or legs or anything else to get attention and popularity. I mean in the start of her career she still wore conservative things and became the most popular female artist of the 90s. Tomy showed her what was best for her voice and personality. He told her how to keep her career on top. NO I do not think Tomy was good to her or whatever but he did guid her when nobody else was. He kinda is the reason we have Mariah Carey. DO NOT JUMP ON ME CRAZY SUPER FANS! I am just as big of a fan as you all are if not more, honestly. I don't think I've ever seen this performance. It's like the only Fantasy performance where you can really see it's live! Love it! Mariah was doing some weird pained squints like singing, though.

It's not flat. It is sung in a different note.. well sometimes that's what she calls saving technique.. try listening again and differentiate from flat to singing in a different note

Jade Lovette he’s not wrong it would be like she is going back to the time of her self titled album,music box, and emotions where she was covered up and after that her wardrobe went through a change
