I can't say for sure but being his wife helped her a lot, he gave her the best producers, paid huge sums of money to market her aggressively, protected her massively too. He negotiated for the best of every thing for her because of his power and clout in the industry. I think she was his muse, he more or less opened the Sony music vault for her and got the best in the business to build her. Yes she has the talent but not too many fantastic singers will ever reach the height she did. After she left Tommy he withdrew his support and her career started gradually slowing down, even her reputation started taking a hit, her meltdown, her nonsense relationship with Eminem who had a drug problem, they threw insults at each other with songs, her marriage with Nick Cannon then the divorce, then the convoluted romance with the Australian billionaire and eventual court case that followed, the tacky disastrous reality show, then another court case with her manager, then the toy boy back ground dancer boyfriend ppllllzzz too many tabloid trash stories. Why Celine is much more successful than her, Celine's husband knows the business inside out like Tommy and they were a formidable team till he died of throat cancer. Truth be told, there would not have been any Mariah Carey without Tommy Mottola, yes she had the talent but there is a lot more that goes on behind the scenes we don't know about. Talent is one thing but if she didn't that have that massive machinery behind her she would have lasted.

Well, most of the time - generally speaking - it is very much a collaborative effort. If you consider lyrics aswell as music and production, then for sure! But even if it's only about the lyrics, most of the time there is at least one other person that helps them complete the lyrics when they are stuck, writes whole verses, bridges, and/ or choruses, helps them leave stuff out or remodel the song completely. It depends on what you call "writing a song (on your own)". I get annoyed be people in her position claiming all the praise and recognition for themselves. Gaga, has at times done the same. Proclaiming loudly:"I have written all the songs on this album". You find out later that at least a few songs were "given to her". And that she did have co-authors, as can be seen in the song credits. And I hate when they fail to address the group effort that goes into it or don't acknowledge the contributions of others, the help they have gotten. I believe it is part of an image of power, talent, ability, skill, amd independence, that they need to create to be recieved better and sell better. Or tat they want to create People want to admire someone who has it all and can do it all. Being able to "do it all" is also part of the justification for their fame, fortune and status. And it is somehow the job requirement of a pop star, the societal role of an international superstar, if you will, to embody this image.

This week I Literally had a dream about Mariah and Steve Wonder singing a song that doesn’t even exist in this reality that brought me to 😭. She is a beautiful soul. Love this woman.

Mariah Carey gives all of us hope. If she was able to overcome her obstacles (absent dad, jealous mum, jealous siblings, stupid husbands), we can all overcome our obstacles.

But I guess with she not embarrass about her situation. She not the only one that has gone through a situation of domestic violence sad to say they still are children going through it. But she does do her part and help the fortunate. And that's what I like about her. And thank god the she has healed and gotten these things off her shoulder. Like she says Things happen. Luv ya! Always Mariah!

She's such an amazing talent. Becareful because without a supportive family there will always be snakes circling. Some times we have to be strong alone.
