مريم سعيد، لبنانية وأرملة المفكّر الراحل إدوارد سعيد. أسّست "أكاديمية بارنبويم سعيد " و"أوركسترا الديوان الغربي الشرقي" في الولايات المتحدة الأميركية بعدما عملت طوال عشرين عاماً في قطاع الخدمات المالية في نيويورك. نشرت مذكرات انتقادية لاذعة في العام ٢٠٠٩ بعنوان "العالم الذي أحب: قصة امرأة عربية، وجسّدتها على خشبة المسرح بالتعاون مع فانيسا ريدغريف (مسرح ميلر في نيويورك). شاركت في عضوية المجلس الاستشاري لـ"مسرح الحرية " في فلسطين، وفي برنامج "بريدج " لتوفير المنح الدراسية للشباب الفلسطيني في مخيمات اللاجئين الفلسطينيين في لبنان. مريم سعيد حاصلة على شهادة البكالوريوس من الجامعة الأميركية في بيروت وعلى درجتي دراسات عليا من جامعة كولومبيا.

Mariam Cortas, widow of the public intellectual Edward Said, is a major force behind the newly established Barenboim-Said Academy (BSA) and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra (WEDO). Said also serves as the Vice President of the Barenboim-Said Foundation USA. Mariam holds an undergraduate degree from the American University of Beirut in Lebanon and two graduate degrees from Columbia University. For more than 20 years, she worked in the financial services industry in New York City. In 2009, Said published the critically acclaimed memoir “A World I Loved: The Story of an Arab Woman”, by her mother Wadad Makdisi Cortas.
