I am her age and remember her so well in the mid to late 60's. Oh so beautiful ..but also vulnerable...she was sadly served up as an idol to drugs, sex , rock and roll..to be taken advantage of and it is a miracle that she lived through the whole experiance ..and is still with us. db

Don't forget that by the late 1970s, early 1980s she had become a damned fierce woman of the Broken English album, and remained that fierce and independent and wild throughout the rest of her musical career ... perhaps less vulnerable than you imagine, learning from her early experience and fiercely moving beyond it.

A great magical moment of my life was coming face to face with Marianne in 1964, a narrow corridor between old Fleetway House and new Fleetway House(Farringdon Street, London). Just me and her walking towards one another and she gave me a half-smile as we passed. I was stunned, in shock, of course, had always fancied Marianne and I was 21, tall and not bad-looking. I always wondered afterwards if I should have spoken to her, asked her for a date even. More than likely she would have said thank you, no. Fleetway was a big publishing company and she was there for an interview and photo-shoot. Me and Marianne getting it together!
