I have what would almost be considered an addiction for Marimo's.. I've lost count of how many I have in my various aquariums! I've been wanting to start uploading new videos to my channel so maybe a Marimo tour would be interesting as well as all of the tips and care information.. Something of interest/fun fact that new comers to moss balls wouldn't know, is that in countries such as Japan many people keep one or two almost like pets. Due to the different/typically much smaller living accommodations as well as not being able to have pets such as dogs, cats or other huge variety of critters as we can here in North America, things such as Air plants and Marimo's are highly valued. And of course if the living area is large enough, aquariums are popular. The live fish market street in Japan is literally jaw dropping not only for variety but also quality! Fantastic video and thank you!

Moss balls don't do well in water over 60 degrees. Marimo moss balls in the wild are only found in icy water in Iceland, Scotland, Estonia, and Japan. I had 12 moss balls in 10 years and they always ended up looking like a rug covered with algae a few months later. Moss balls are not hardy and they need cold water to do well. Moss balls are algae magnets unless you have a machine to roll them 24-7 in cold water in low light.

Hi I have just ordered my moss balls do you think water that has been in the fridge would be cold enough?

Ya true! What I do to keep them healthy is that every Tuesday’s I put them in the fridge for about one ☝️ night and in the morning I give them a good rub so they stay round also you can put so ice in the water daily! And yes you don’t need all that just keep up with the maintenance❤!
