I can no longer listen to anyone else sing this song. A master class in acting and singing all at once. Every emotion is done with her face, her eyes, her voice. It's a slow build and the character is completely different at the end of the song than at the beginning...all done in 4 minutes. In lesser hands, someone would feel the need to move around in order to convey the character's state. But with Marin we see that it is emotional paralysis and her lack of movement brings that home. Her phrasing, her breath control, the final small intake of breath at the end...amazing. We witness a woman unraveling and the emotional payoff of the end is entirely earned.

Marin Mazzie is a talent the I just discovered. Her voice and carriage on the stage was magnificent. All of her work was marvelous. Losing My Mind has to be my absolute favorite, I read in another review that it makes the reviewer cry every time she hears it. I feel the same way. Marin was very beautiful, had a great voice and I feel like every time I hear her sing this song she crawls into my heart and takes up residence. Unfortunately she's gone now. I'll never have the privilege of hearing her perform live but she is on recordings. Thank you for sharing your marvelous talent with us.

What that woman is doing is not JUST singing. That my friends is what we call acting a song. If you're being honest, and you're doing it right, acting isn't "pretty". Same goes for singing. And same goes especially when you're doing both. Which she is. Good for you Marin Mazzie. You Go Girl!

Oh, my god. I am a little speechless after seeing this. I have performed this song in a cabaret setting. Even that feels like being punched in the stomach. Just to sing it in any context, feels like being emptied of everything because of the nature of the song. As a performer, this song is just as gut wrenching as it is for the audience to hear. It feels like your heart is being ripped right out of you, as you move toward the inevitable climax of this song. I can only imagine how it feels to perform the song in this context, where she is performing this in such a high profile setting. My god, Marin Mazzie was a national treasure. This is one of the greatest performances I have ever seen. Our loss of her is an incalculable loss to musical theatre and performing arts. But we are that much luckier that she graced us with her presence and talent.
