It's great that she hails from Grand Rapids, only 35 miles from my hometown of Lansing, Michigan. All home state prejudice aside, Ladewig is without question the greatest woman bowler of all time. To have won eight Open championships is astounding enough. To be woman bowler of the year nine times is insane. Ladewigs secret was unrelenting accuracy. "I spared em to death," she loved to say. Incredibly, she claimed that she wasnt a natural at bowling. Her practice regimen of 10-15 games a day ingrained prefect feel and mechanics. Not to mention the stamina to endure the grueling grind of 30 to 50 games in championship competition. Give her the equipment and lane conditions that players compete under now and it would be a wipeout. The "Lady of the Lanes" is still the games all time queen.
