@5tonyvvvv Yes, Derek Oldbury won this game the first of the match. But Tinsley won the match.

@WhiteEmerald1991 " Make sure you have at least a draw, before you start looking for a way to win. If your opponent seems suddenly to have left himself wide open, don't rush in for the win. Stop, Look, and Consider. Has he baited a tempting trap for you?" Tom Wiswell. This is very good advice. Have a Happy New Year!!!

Hello quick question, of all the checker players that play today and within the top ten (Ron King for example) Do you think any of them could've beaten Tinsley? He seemed like he was head and shoulders above any human that ever played.

i doubt anyone could beaet him, on his wiki page it says "In one game from their match in 1990, Chinook, playing with white pieces, made a mistake on the tenth move. Tinsley remarked, "You're going to regret that." Chinook resigned after move 36, only 26 moves later. The lead programmer Jonathan Schaeffer looked back into the database and discovered that Tinsley picked the only strategy that could have defeated Chinook from that point and Tinsley was able to see the win 64 moves into the future." insane

I didn't know a King didn't have to 'force' eat when presented with the opportunity. As a kid the rulkes I knew was that if the K didn't eat a presented checker it meant the opponent got your K for free.

I think when i take this game seriously, the more i lose. I have loss A LOT recently and im surprised by my blindness. I wish the only way to win this game is to let your opponent beat you in checkers. Because it seems like that is what im doing. sigh. I bet even the greatest checkers players lots a lot. :( I want to be great. Do you think reading that Dr. Marion Tinsley book is helpful?

After Mr. Tinsley's blunder, why didn't white go immediately from 27 to 24? Why the sacrifice first?

@checkercycle The way to win is to learn how to draw games? Do you mean that by drawing games you learn how to do better next time?

@thebookofjoy Because he couldn't move his King out without attacking the white on 27. If he attacked 27 before the sacrifice, white could have easily taken his King

At 5:50, instead of that red checker going right, why not go left? Force a take, then double jump to king....and another forced take would remove white's king leaving red in a stronger position?

@WhiteEmerald1991 Hello! The Dr. Marion Tinsley book is very good. I have a suggestion for you. Get "The Little Giant Encyclopedia of Checker Puzzles by Robert Pike. Let me know when you finish and then we will work on something else. Also don't worry about losing. The way to win is to learn how to draw games. Especially on the internet where your opponent might be using a computer against you.
