Both sides are using the German Nazi army as a role model, because of the speed and impact of the Nazi war machine and its commanders. Something that nobody has replicated, except for the invasion of Iraq but even then, this was a high tech invasion with cruise missiles. Nazi Germany has the best record of "blixt krieg" and battle field efficiency in the modern age, when excluding air superiority and this is what's needed to win in Ukraine, hence why Wagner were tattooed with swastikas, but neither Wagner nor Azov are true Nazis because Nazism can only reside in Government. Nazism a political system ( not a personal belief ) and these soldiers don't control the parliament nor the Presidency of either side. Although socialism, extreme taxes or a war time economy is not far away from Nazism, I'm not seeing any extermination camps with millions of victims on any side in this war. The Nazi soldiers are role models but none of the sides have yet demonstrated any efficiency in a mass attack that's even close, and this is a sad fact because it means that the war can last forever

basically. sums up the ukr military. it's part of the reason why they aren just air dropping then going house to house or sneaking in and going house to house and clearing. shock troops then clean pushing back. they dont have the training level to do that. they got bad military hold overs and conscripts. the core military is in DNR loyal to russia. mostly. intelligence agency is also loyal to russia . there is where there kicks backs came from. part of this DNR crap is old guard trying to hold on to power. being told they would absorb into russia. when everyone knew they wouldnt take DNR into russia. it's a money sink.
@CiubyX

MsTokies It's just propaganda. Do you think that soldier shot by accident? I get you hand twiches, but if it does do you leave the gun safety off and on top of that keep your fingers on the trigger - and it so happens it happens in 30 seconds of camera footage? Or you think when president Porosenko has started his presidency an soldier would just faint right when the president is next to him and ALSO ON CAMERA? This is just clumsy western propaganda to make us feel pity for the Ukrainians. The solution for this is a Cypruss type of demarcation enforced by neutral or dual sides forces. Thing is no side one wants this to stop.
@MsTokies
9 жыл бұрын
Ciuby if you stand in the heat and your military is mostly filled with conscripts and poorly trained people then yeah it isn't propanada it's reality. the core of combat train troops that went to afghanistan for peace keeping force is about all they had for decent equipped troops. even those troops would only seed a new military force. plus the fact that most of the troops could not be trusted. as for some funky confedericy. weirdness that russia keeps putting out there or russian type supports they'd be better off closing the border to DNR types and locking down what they got with fencing. one of the main problems of ukr. is corruption. extreme levels of it .. you either shut down the press and keep the corruption or keep the press and fix the corruption. what ukr tried to do was dumb and made matters worst. it puts gas on a flame. the worst thing that could happen to ukraine at this point would be some funky setup so that dnr was part of ukraine and on top of it having some weird semi open boarder with it. the drug smuggling and gun smuggling back into euro zone would be crazy. moldova is a bad enough problem but it would be moldova on roids
@Pandamasque
9 жыл бұрын
MsTokies Nobody's airdropping anyone. The Ukrainian Air Force has been completely grounded by Russian Air Defence since before the MH17 tragedy last year (a number of transport planes and helicopters were downed). It also isn't true that the core of the military is loyal to Russia. Utter bull. Some did defect of course, but those were actually the worst and the most corrupt who defected precisely because they wanted to continue living the Russian/Soviet way. The real problem is that there were only 6000 combat-ready troops total in March 2014, that includes divers! Yanukovych ruined the army (among other things) The forces had to be basically created from scratch. Hence the crap training, discipline, equipment etc. Which is NOT to say that the new officials are doing a great job... I do agree that D/LNR needs to be fenced off for now. Hence the whole talk about UN or EU peacekeepers.
@MsTokies
9 жыл бұрын
***** EU couldn't get it's head out of it's ass long enough to realize they should have sent peacekeepers 7 months ago. lock the border down offered aid to DNR to lock down the pollution problem they are gonna have and moved on from this conflict. to many countries playing games. plus the french being french and trying to play games. the germans elite trying to back slide into russia bullshit. before the conflict has be resolved. the flood of weapons to the EU is gonna be awful after this conflict in is done. if the flood eu troops they can solve two problems at once. lock down land. get some air support in the air quickly that russia probably wouldn't want to shoot down. and call his cards. that or they should dump ukraine and call it a day cos it's simply the options on the table for russia push until they run outta money.. right now they dont have anything worth taking or keeping. exception crimea (which is currently a money sink) as for air dropping i said (part of the reason) not the whole reason. is that they are extremely weak on basic urban combat at the start of the war... the people who were caple of that was the tour that did afangstan. lol since we were talking about ground troops at the time

Vostok029 Ukraina means "Edge" or "By border", its not a nationality, its a fucking geographical description of a location, as in "Edge of the Russian empire" or "Border of the Russian empire". "Ukrainian identity" is a very late world artificial construct, even most of the so called Ukrainian national heroes and supposed ancestors spoke Russian and considered themselves very much Russian. The fact that the area has a unique genetic makeup is because its the gateway to and from Europe where many nationalities had all sort of contact and conflict for thousands of years, but the fact that up until very late in modern history most of them considered themselves Russians is just that, a fact. The idea of breaking Ukraina away from the Russian Empire by convincing the people living there they are a different specie is a very old idea that has been proposed and actively pursued by more than one European, all you are doing is continuing it on the genetic basis, trying to paint some picture of a completely different group of people that just happened to all speak Russian and have the same lore and traditions for thousands of years. In other words, you are easy to see through in your motivation. And, its even easier to see considering that my original comment was to a guy with a German flag, not a Ukrainian one.

AND THEY STILL CLAIM THEY'RE NOT NAZIS... WITH A STRAIGHT FACE! :D But the best part of all is that they are the only part of the Ukranian military force that is actually achieving military success! See what happens when German zeal and military efficiency gets copied and put to use? Also, if these guys are openly displaying signs of hardcore nazism... what does that say about the current Ukrainian government that relies on and supports them?

If this were truly a professional, or even respectable battalion, that negligent discharge would have been punished severely. There are so many rules of basic firearms safety that he had to have broken to do that, and you don't have to be in the army to know.

They never claimed to be professional, quite the contrary. They were simple civilian volunteers in a paramilitary organisation at this point in time. They later became national guardsmen. Now they are a full fledged professional wing of the official army that even conducts special forces operations. And even as non-professional volunteers, remember Simon still said they were "pretty much the only regiment taking ground instead of losing it (like the professionals)."
