The Mk 23 and USP are similar to the Alfa Romeo 8C and 4C. On the surface, they look like the same thing. But when you take closer looks and look at the intervals, the differences are as clear as daylight

Wow great video! And beautiful quality! Gotta love videos from our fellow HKpro-ers! Very interesting note on the safety differences. I had no idea it could NOT be engaged on the Mark in DA mode. Also interesting note on the barrel "stepping up" o n the Mark. I'm loving this gun. This video really makes me want one. Amazing comparison/review. See you on the forum.

Excellent comparison especially on the internals! I have the USP 45 Tactical. At first I didn't shoot it very well, but I've been getting better and better with it. The HK45 and HK45C fit my hand better plus the modern features of, well, a pic rail. I can't seem to make myself let go of the USP though. Debating on replacing it with a Mark 23 - if I'm going to have a "impractical" gun in my collection, I might as well go all the way right? Even without a light, optic, or the capacity of a modern 45, I think most guys would grab a Mark 23 over anything else if they had to choose one handgun for a SHTF kind of situation.

Well done! I have a MK23 and HK45. However, the KAC suppressor is not interchangeable between these two pistols. I believe it is interchangeable between the MK23 and USP Tactical as stated on the KAC suppressor markings. BTW, the accessory rail is not "picatinny", but rather it is H&K proprietary.

He did, when he was speaking of the decocking. Mark 23 has a separate decocker(that lever) and safety, while the USP is integrated all into the safety. Also when decocked the Mark 23 cannot have the safety on, while the USP can.

That's not trigger creep. That's called take up. Creep is something that refers to the feeling of the trigger as it is actually disengaging the sear.

Cleaning the Mk 23 from a field-expedient scenario is very easy. The gun field-strips in a manner very similar to a 1911. Once you slide the upper receiver (slide, barrel, & recoil spring assembly) off the frame, separate the recoil spring assembly from the barrel and slide the barrel out of the slide. That's really as far as you should go. The innards are easy to get to with a small toothbrush & everything else is pretty self-explanatory. There are also good videos on KZitem showing just how to do this and how to reassemble everything when you're done.

Just picked up a second or today for 2,000 OTD from a local seller. It's hit or miss. Gunbroker, prices are all over the place from $1700 all the way to $3300 depending on what you are looking for (soft case, desert tan frame, etc.)

@johnyoungs7453
Жыл бұрын
Not 100% sure, but I don't think so. #1, the frame of the Mk 23 is just a wee bit wider where the slide stop pin goes through the frame. The lever itself is longer on one of the guns compared to the other, I think. Your best bet would be to call "HK USA" & ask them.

To respond to Val The Trollman's query. The two diad symbols, DE stands for Germany and "BD" is the 2 digit code when the weapon was manufactured. B=1, D=3 e.g. 2000 + 13 = 2013. BA = 10 for the year 2010.

The MK23 was designed as an offensive weapon for the military and came out first. The USP was derived from it for the civilian market and not expected to be put through the same level of hardship. Take a look at the Wikipedia entry on them. There's a lot of info there.

$2,200 on up to $3,000+. You have to pick and choose. "The Attic" (aka as "The Sportsmen's Loft") in Minot, North Dakota, has several "Euro" Mk 23's that come in a beautiful, aluminum "attaché" type case with their accouterments, paperwork, & operator's manual, etc. You might contact them if you find you might be interested.

Never been there. After that shooting in Tasmania a decade or two ago, I wouldn't be surprised if the gun was banned. About all you can own over there right now is single-shot shotguns & rifles - maybe revolvers & semi-autos with 10-rounds or less mags. Good luck..!!

the difference is the cal. the tactical uses .45 ACP , the standard uses 9mm Parabellum. nice to know is, that Hk developed the Mk23 as a primary weapon. the usp is developed as secondary weapon. thats why the Mk23 is build much more heavy than the usp. the reason is simple, a primary weapon is fired much more often. -nerd mode off XD
