As a beginner drummer mark represents freedom to me , I learn from listening and watching KZitem and can often get lost in the rabbit hole of KZitem teachers who either say do this and like this or just plain you should get a teacher instead of listening to me, but mark is something different, he is more into that teaching I like but maybe doesn’t dare to like because I feel I’m doing something wrong and that’s the vision that you just need to bang on stuff and experiment around on the kit and you learn on the way, I’m not great but I agree with that, I think a combination of that and really listening to songs closely have teached me a lot of the things I know on the kit now, a great way to teach drumming, just improvise

B4 Bowie died he had him on Black Star , listen to that playing it's pure Guillina. They guy is in another area like JoJo but it's like his computer has glitches and is always correcting. The guy is one of a kind. I would live to see JoJo Mayer, this man and Gershon Eisenhauer, play together. It probably create some sort time distortion....

For all those who may think he's slightly off beat, he's not. He's actually switching tempos while maintaining a steady rhythmic pattern throughout those rapid changes. Mark is a fucking drumming machine with feel and dynamics that are sometimes incomprehensible to the untrained ear and closed mind..There's a reason why one of popular music's most important and significant legends of the last 5 decades, (David Bowie a.k.a - The Thin White Duke) got Mark to be the drummer on his final musical master piece, Black Star..Go listen to that album and go and listen to what a human drum machine sounds like..

Ofcourse its just an opinion of a semi pro nobody knows, i really do respect his technique and talent, but for me this kind of playing is just trying to find the weirdest beats instead of music, so lets reframe my initial statement, its drumming but it aint playing music:)
