The man is a master in the way he edits language, says so much in simple phrases that take you by the throat. Many artists dazzle with style, and that is fun too, but Mark dazzles you with style and genuine substance, he comments on life in ways you don't anticipate, and that is the best fun of all.

Saw Mark in Phili when he was on the Tracker tour. One thing I can vividly remember was i was next to my good friend, a dj from Jersey who had scored the concert ticket for me. Mark was soloing at the end of Hill Farmer’s Blues. I looked at her and she looked over at me and we just shook our heads and smiled at each other and just went WOW...I was totally drawn in and connected to Mark’s solo. Quite an emotional experience and hard to describe. I will be a fan of his forever.

That must be a reaction he inspires in his audience quite often then... Me & my sister have been to a couple of his concerts over the years and we always have at least one moment like that per concert. A moment of sharing of glances and grins of enjoyment.

I have everything that this genius has done. I first heard Dire Straits in 1978 when I was just 11, and have been in awe ever since - I turned 50 in February. I surprised my oldest son when I turned up on his doorstep in Salford, having driven from near Coventry, to say "Come on Ryan - I'm taking you to see Mark Knopfler Live at the MEN". This was the one we went to, and it was stunningly brilliant!! This combo of tracks is one of my all time favourites - simply breathtaking! The week before, I had taken my Father in Law to see him at the Genting Arena in Birmingham. The set was pretty much identical - as you'd expect so close together. I could go and watch him every week. Would love to see Dire Straits again - that's a different conversation completely.

There is a linkage from Mother Maybelle to Chet Atkins to Mark Knopfler so deep in the art of the guitar...so deep in their lyrics...where the words and the chords reach our souls...where the human race finds honor as we listen to every song...as life blooms from one generation to another...a beautiful life where there are no politics to divide us...where the gift of ears and mind can salvage our souls...

তুমি এখনো ছোট ....... Lyrics: Father: It’s not time to make a change Just relax, take it easy You’re still young, that’s your fault(তুমি এখনো ছোট, এটাই তোমার দোষ..) There’s so much you have to know Find a girl, settle down If you want you can marry Look at me, I am old but I’m happy I was once like you are now And I know that it’s not easy To be calm when you’ve found Something going on But take your time, think a lot Why, think of everything you’ve got For you will still be here tomorrow But your dreams may not Son: How can I try to explain, when I do he turns away again? It’s always been the same, same old story From the moment I could talk, I was ordered to listen Now there’s a way, and I know that I have to go Away, I know I have to go Father: It’s not time to make a change Just sit down, take it slowly You’re still young, that’s your fault There’s so much you have to go through Find a girl, settle down If you want you can marry Look at me, I am old but I’m happy Son: Away, away, away, I know I have to make this decision alone - no Son: All the times that I’ve cried, keeping all the things I knew inside It’s hard, but it’s harder to ignore it If they were right I’d agree, but it’s them you know not me Now there’s a way and I know that I have to go Away, I know, I have to go Father: Stay, stay, stay, why must you go and Make this decision alone? No

Hill Farmer's Blues is so dark. For me, it is about a man who has been dealt a bad hand at every turn of his life. He blames everyone, and, ultimately, God, for his situation, and now he is rejecting God, and everyone, because of his hurt. I totally identify.
