Hi music lovers! This channel was created by Pavel Fomenkov and Igor Mikryukov as a place to collect all the best Mark Knopfler related videos and bootlegs in the best quality humanly possible, we took an enormous amount of effort to make each video basically as good as it can be given our limited resources and access to archives. As by March 2020, most of the videos are blocked and the channel even has 1 copyright strike, because Mark's management has opened an official channel and run it flawlessly, so you can say that their brilliant team have picked up where we left off. With that said, and because there's zero possibilities for this channel to evolve, I recommend you to join the official Mark Knopfler KZitem channel or my own channel - Pavel Fomenkov, where I strive to create 100% legal MK related content, mainly my little project "The Mark Knopfler Songbook", where I try to learn every single Mark's song on one acoustic guitar and share my experience with the world. I'd love to see you there! Pavel. P.S. You can find both channels in the "Recommended" section of this channel.

are you aware of the fact that any british youtuber would be stigmatised in uk if he makes the channel about any russian guitarist?
@PavelFomenkov

@@sexypoetry I don't know what you are talking about. You are comparing incomparable things... Nobody in the UK will make a channel about any Russian guitarist, because nobody in the UK knows any Russian guitarists to begin with. There's nothing wrong with the fan channel with good content like this very video, especially given the fact that all the content was monetised by the original rights holder and I never had even a cent out of that. They did shut down a lot of videos, but for a bunch they're OK with it, and so am I.

I don't profess to understand the dialog below but whatever....this is an awesome video that probably owes to the unique and very self-effacing personality of Mr. Knopfler. For some of we old men of European ancestry (not Russian but middle Europe definitely) who love our guitars, this is almost like going to Sunday School or Church service. This is pure reverence and awe, a godly experience. I applaud you for your channel and would gladly support both yours as well as Mr. Knopfler's and his team/acolytes.

Mark likes to make his guitar “cry and sing,” which makes his live performances individually unique ((ex.: Berlin Brothers in Arms on Les Paul v. And when he returned to the hotel wearing just a simple lumberjack shirt, the doorman didn't recognize him. He told him, sorry you cant enter here. And Knopfler simply replied, "but i have a room here". The doorman didn't believe him and tried to send him away, cause he wasn't looking very fancy. Knopfler could have said: don't you know who I am, I am Mark knopfler of Dire Straits and am here to do a concert! But he didn't. He just behaved completely normal and low key. This was reported in the papers, and i remember it did a really big impression on me. That he was so humble that he could pass for any regular guy on the street and yet so famous.

Look at where his right hand is when he plays. A lot (not all) of the difference between Fender and Gibson stock sounds is about where the right hand naturally hovers over those two different scale lengths/builds/designs. Page played the Stairway to Heaven solo on a Telecaster. It sounds like a Les Paul.

Calling someone underrated doesn't mean you're saying they're bad. It means you're saying they get less credit than they deserve. I'll give you an example of why people may think Mark's underrated. 'Normally when I'm home I play on an acoustic guitar, because it's such a beautiful, friendly thing / it's a friend to your life'. its good you are still making music dude, always better to find and new out, than to step back and keep it all in. guitar can shred almost as hard as drums can wreck.. and as long as you are loving what you are doing.. shit be cool! with the drum issue, yeah, complicated fractures = complicated healing, and when bones don't heal just right, especially when control is a factor, that can be all kinds of bad dude. but, as long as you still have decent nerve response, and can you can still twitch your thigh muscles.. there is maybe something you can develop upon, and reconsider your drumming situation if you are still wanting it? you could consider driving the bass/double bass and hh, of a drum machine/kit, using triggers created by either the physical action of a muscle twitching, or from the signals that make those muscles twitch. sadly mechanics, not electronics, is my thing, so i cant offer anything deeper than the idea, but i do know that kind of signal processing can be done, and with today's tech, the gear to do it would likely be of the shelf too. now while that may not initially sound, or feel as balls out as drumming was before your accident, who knows once you are behind the kit, and progress has an opportunity to happen.. you wont really be needing to learn anything you hadn't already, it would be more of an adaption than anything else, and well, never say never right? peace..

This is a wonderful interview. He understands what Robert Johnson knew in the 1930s. That a guitar must speak and each guitar has a different language that you must understand to get everything out of it. He speaks of the guitar as another person that you do a duet with. It’s like you are integrated into one. This is one of my favorite KZitem interviews. He is a real inspiration for us who learn to live with a guitar as a friend that never lies of crosses you. That understanding shows in his calm face. He is surrounded by his best friends, guitars. What an inspiration me who grew up hearing dad playing his 1945 D-18 before going to bed!
