Sure miss this guy. Changed my musical life for sure! Never met him but saw him in Chicago in one of his last gigs. Drove 5 hours by myself because I was a fan...So informative and not what you expect.

I was in a band in Richmond recording with M. Linkous' friend Dave Lowry. He would speak of him often, and we just kind of nod, taking him at his word. We went in one Saturday to do some recording and went in to say hi first. John Morand, the engineer, said Mark had been in recording the night before and asked if we wanted to take a listen. We shrugged and said sure. He played "Saturday". Right off the fucking board. My jaw was on the ground. A song so goddamned simple, and yet so captivating, sweet and heartbreaking. I was an instant fan, and still am. My one regret, was not having made an effort to meet him, which I had plenty of opportunity.

Only just heard of this guy and his band Sparklehorse thanks to a HiFi review channel ,and instantly became intrigued by the fragility of their music and the laidback approach , now to discover he killed himself only deepens the emotion the music brings .In this documentary he seems very content and has everything in place for a good life . Guess the black dog that drives those to call time early lies in wait and well hidden .Mark seems a really great humble guy with a gentle nature reflected in his music, but sadly like Nick Drake that becomes his lasting legacy , R.I.P ML.

The shirt the drummer is wearing (Sliang Laos) was a very unique, very heavy band that he(Scott) played drums for from 1990-1999 All part of the Richmond VA scene

@@reactionsb1 KZitem is your best bet & thats just old video camera footage. In Sliang Laos, Scott played over sequenced Drums in perfect time & I don’t think he used a clicktrack. “Axis Rot” preformed by Burn The Priest is a very faithful cover of a Laos song only with slick metal production, check that out.

(Coming from someone who has loved his music long before he killed himself) How can you say we don't know him or what he was about. Who he was and what he was about is in his music. That fact that he put so much of himself in his music is what makes him a good musician. This is why people feel like they know him, and in some way they do.
