Yeah one piece of advice to you guys: If possible please do not take your little girl from this school into another school, just because it is convenient to you guys to get closer to work. Her future is build right here, right now and stability in her school is very important. She's building up friends for life now... and moving her to another school is going to break up everything she is building up now. Look when she is like 12 years old, she'll go to the next level in the school system: Middelbare school (High school?) and so then everybody from the Basis school she is at right now basically go their own way. Hopefully she can go together with a friend from her Basis school to the (next level) Middelbare school. It is very important not to break up this very important phase in her life, especially her being a girl from abroad, trying to attach to Dutch society, Rotterdam, Zuid-Holland, Nederland. Don't take this solid ground of everything she's build up now from under her feet away. I am Dutch and I have experienced moving from one basis school to another and what you leave behind is what you'll never be able to build up at a new school in a class where all kids grew up with each other in that class for the last few years in a row. That band they all got in together in those years, you'll never fit in as a newcomer in their class new to you. Give her the advantage that she's young and so can start at the school she's at right now all together with the kids of her own age in a class and let them all together build up that band of friendship for the coming years until she's 12 years old. Please consider her interest.

Fascinating and lovely! How on earth did they have strawberries and mangoes in autumn? We live in Hawaii, and mangoes are out of season, so even we can’t get mangoes this time of year at the farmers markets or grocery stores. Are they grown nearby? Very curious.

We grow strawberries here in The Netherlands also. Actually quite nearby my home even haha we call them "de Westlandse aardbei". I also grow strawberries on my balcony for fun but that's only possible in summertime but we have greenhouses to grow these products in. We always have mangoes but I am not sure where they are grown. I do know that we grow a lot here in our own country as wel, but also in other European countries.

Don’t see my message, so one’s again: when you buy a Rotterdam Pas at the library you get all kinds of reductions and free entrance to the museums. Also to the Maritime Museum where Professor Plons is a nice attraction for your daughter. Enjoy.

Good to see you seem more relaxed and optimistic. No advice when it comes to residence. I live in 'east' on the edge of the veluwe. (actually in the center, but somehow the people from the Randstad call that the east). Driving to Rotterdam Alexander on mondays takes about 70 minutes. So not really an option. Housing is also a problem here, but maybe easier then in Rotterdam. Ben je al bezig Nederlands te leren?

Housing stays tough in NL, from Amsterdam myself, probably even worse here. I do hear The Hague is a bit easier when it comes to housing and should be also about a 40 min drive to the port I think, might be something to consider. The housing situation is kinda stabelizing a bit since last month it seems, so I hope you will get yours soon!

Well just an attempt to give you a tip as no response to my previous one. There are real estate agencies such as Meeus, Ooms and Stad en Land that often have something to offer. Not at the Blaak, but in the vicinity. Which port does your man work with because if it is the Maasvlakte you have to focus on Spijkenisse. On Woonnet Rijnmond you can register yourself and see what you can respond to. You will have a house in Spijkenisse or Hoogvliet in no time, but it is a bit of a matter of luck. Good connection to the Maasvlakte and good connection to Erasmus M.C. Good to see you again and hope you find your way even better soon. Greetings from Ed from Rotterdam South.

A tip: I assume your husband works somewhere in the Europort so then you should explore Voorne - Putten for in the future. Try Spijkenisse for a start you can get there easily take the Metro.l
