Huge fan of Marli Miller here. Every time she speaks I learn new things about PNW geology. She's a wonderful communicator. The final 3 minutes of her talk is maybe one the best PNW geology summaries I've heard in years.

So much geology to learn. So little time. Great job Marli as always making geology understandable for us non-geologist! You’re a wonderful bridge in educating the general public to the really interesting world of geology. ❤ from Oregon

THis was so very very well explained. I'm not even remotely knowledgeable about geology. I took geology 101 at Uni, a million years ago, and over the past few years have watched a lot of geology videos on KZitem. Some straight up lectures, others good quality documentaries, and bad quality. Quite a few looking at the Pacific Northwest. But I did not understand the maps she showed at the start. By the end I did, and she had made it easy to understand and engaging. Wonderful stuff. I especially loved seeing the photos of the smushed pillow lava in the roadside cutting. She gave a great simple explanation of why they were smushable, and then that stunning photo of the huge mound of them. The combination made it so graspable.

Don't forget some of the most incredible landscape features in Oregon............the numerous old (Miocene+) mostly filled in megacalderas from supervolcanic eruptions. Some over 40 miles across.

In the one slide of Oregon/Washington plates, you call the red stars the volcanoes, however earlier, you said the range in Washington was not volcanic in origin.
