I'm about to finalize a very costly divorce from my wife of 4 years (8 year relationship) because she walked out on me out of the blue, betraying and destroying our family with 2 little girls because I became unattractive to her, and she "loves me but isn't IN LOVE with me". Just like that... all it took was irresponsibly packing on some weight and getting depressed about it. She didn't want to try counseling, she didn't want to fight for our marriage... she turned around and walked away because she wasn't happy at the moment. A few months later she had a live-in boyfriend. She came out of nowhere with all this and completely blindsided me - times were tough in our relationship but I never thought she'd haul off and do what she did, because she never even hinted that she didn't take our marriage vows seriously. Now I know that when she made those vows, they actually meant nothing to her. That's what men are working with these days. Why the f*** would a man go and get married when this is the result half the time now (statistically)? This divorce has destroyed me in almost every way, especially emotionally/mentally and financially, and it'll be a cold day in Hell when I marry again. This ordeal has gone a long way in destroying my trust in women in general. Marriage is practically a game of Russian roulette, but instead of the typical 16.66% chance of being destroyed, it's now 50%.
@Snake-filledChimp
3 жыл бұрын
@AkiChiaroscuro I never said that I think my new feelings about women are rational. I'm perfectly aware that it's wrong to distrust women because one of them did something horrible, yet I still find myself there... it's just something I'll have to work on. I know there's a lot of women out there who take their marriages seriously. I know that there are good people and bad people, and sometimes good people do bad things and bad people do good things, because people are very complex. The point of my rant is: you may think that you know your spouse inside and out, but the truth is, you probably just barely scratched the surface of who they really are, because despite taking a solemn vow and entering a "lifelong" contract, 50% of the time your marriage will be destroyed (70% of the time initiated by the woman) and the state government will be sure to facilitate and mandate your destruction. And if you're unlucky enough to be a man, you can look forward to getting an absolute drubbing in divorce court. Thus, if you're a man, getting married just doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
@Snake-filledChimp
3 жыл бұрын
I'll say this too, because it's absolutely critical, and it's what led to the demise of my marriage... if there's one main takeaway from Cooper for anyone in a relationship, but especially a marriage, and especially a man: do not stop improving yourself. Do not stop working on your relationship. You are not good enough, and you are nowhere near as good a partner as your could be, no matter what anyone says (including your partner). Your partner does NOT unconditionally love you. Your relationship is highly conditional at all times. The closest any relationship comes to unconditional love is probably how a parent loves their child. The more you take your partners love for granted, the greater peril your relationship is in. That's probably the best general relationship advice I could ever give, and I learned it the hard way.

God knows I was also being awful, but I stayed faithful, always. She signed up for life, but when the going got tough, she turned around and ran away like a coward and weakling. Try following along here. Since when is something right to do as long as it's a "right" as far as the state is concerned? Is the state your ultimate arbiter of morality - is that really how your moral code works? People do horrible things to each other constantly that are within their legal rights, but that doesn't make those things morally acceptable. As probably the most extreme example, every year 800,000+ humans are slaughtered in the womb in the US, which is an atrocity that the state doesn't bat an eye at, because it's been deemed by a handful of robed lawyers to be a "right".

@@mitch_the_-itch for many decades, learning the trades for guys and home economics were basic parts of high school education. Also, business math was routinely taught. Much of the deterioration in personal finance and home life has occurred since these practical classes became optional, with many students not having any time to take them. Ask people 75 and above: they will mostly agree that their high school education did a much better job of preparing them for the practical details of life than today's programs. Many people have deficient parents who cannot teach them how to budget, manage a household etc. Many guys would like to learn a trade, but get no exposure in middle school or high school, so they are way behind the guys whose fathers are in the trades. Government has a strong role to educate people to be employed, take care of themselves and generally avoid crime, domestic violence, divorce etc. since all those scenarios are costly to the taxpayer and destabilize society. The reality is that the bottom 20% of the population needs a nanny state. You can arrest them and put them in prison or have them living on the streets or you can put them in supervised living situations where they can work to the best of their abilities, avoid substance abuse and get mental health care. The latter is a better option. Democrats want to impose the nanny state on those who don't need it. Republicans fail to recognize how incompetent and disruptive large segments of the population are, unless supervised and directed. After all 10% of the population has an IQ less than 85, which is too low to function without help. Then there are people who are clueless at different times in their lives, and without direction, will end up in prison, addicted or on the street. Government can make sure people have practical life skills, and if they are incompetent, make sure they stay out of trouble and work the best they can.

Then my dad and his buddy decided to give my mom and her friend another chance and they all went out for pizza. Then hit it off a second time. I firmly believe if they had been able to swipe away they would have moved on, especially my mom and never met my dad again and I wouldn't be here. They tried because everyone knew then there was only so many people and you had to try and engage through the awkwardness sometimes to find a jem. This is what these boomers don't understand the environment is totally different the options or perceived options are different anyways and a man's value is far less than it ever has been culturally as well.

When women ‘feel’ that 80% of men are ‘below average’, it naturally creates resentment in men. Imagine awakening one day to realize you weren’t your wife’s 1st, 2nd, or even 3rd choice. Unbeknownst to you, she’s had better men, but had to ‘settle’ for you because she waited too long for even better options that never came along. Then she hit the wall, and had to ‘settle’ for anyone offering to provide her with resources. And for that, men are supposed to be grateful? A huge problem I see is even in the dating part of things the women are constantly looking for "the next best man" to be with while ignoring the man they are with. Women no longer seek a "lifetime partner" in life but instead seek short term benefits for life. I have seen so many women's profiles on dating websites that have outrageous criteria for the men to fill before they would even think of talking to a man. Far to many women have such high expectations from men yet offer little to nothing to want to be with them. Men don't want to work hard to obtain what they want in life to have some woman come along and take half or more of it just because they were "with them and or married to them". When a woman can marry a man and 6 months later divorce them and get half or more of the mans wealth for just being with them it turns men off from even wanting anything more than a FFF (find em, fuck em, forget em) relationship. Not all men and women act in the manners I have stated above but those are the rare finds today. The family courts have created themselves a huge extortion racket since the courts and lawyers involved get their pay regardless of the outcome.

My advice to men based on personal experience: we conflate two distinct concepts in this. Separate them - 1. Marriage: a legal arrangement 2. Matrimony: a religious/cultural arrangement Find the right woman and enter into matrimony with her. Leave the government out of it altogether, i.e. don't enter into a marriage. Also, be sure you know what the right woman for you would be. And if you don't find that woman, don't settle for anyone else. I'm 60 and I've been happily divorced for 20+ years following 17 years of hell due to making the above mistakes. If I find the right woman, I'll commit to her if she will commit to me, in matrimony, not marriage. If I don't find the right woman, I'm self-secure and content enough to go on as I am. Once you fully understand this, it's easy to do.

Andrew is what Rollo Tomassi calls a "natural alpha:" He's a highly successful artist (writer) in the top 1 percent of his profession, so he thinks *"Well, monogamy has worked for me so it must just be the best strategy."* But without constant reassurance that you are the best man she can possibly have and that being faithful to you is her optimal mating strategy, your wife will resent you for trapping her in a marriage when she could have a better man by sleeping around. Even a God-fearing Christian woman who would pay a price for divorcing you or committing adultery, will still FANTASIZE about it if you aren't doing what it takes to keep her. My grandfather was married to my grandmother for 60 years: They got married as 19-year-olds and he died just shy of 80. My grandmother used to brag about the fact that other women would have loved to steal him away from her because he was tall, handsome, and successful. Even when he was in his seventies he handled himself like an alpha: Active, competitive, funny, and creative. The key to keeping your wife loyal is to be a man that she is afraid to lose, and that takes work. If you want to get married so that you can stop "playing the game" and relax, because you assume your wife loves you unconditionally, you are in for a rude awakening when she starts thinking that underachieving Dad-Bod on the sofa "ISN'T THE MAN I MARRIED."

My wife says the same thing. Too much risk. I'm sure there's many wonderful women out there that only wants a great family life, but how do you know which one won't destroy you in 5 years or more? People change. I've heard women asking if tge can get child support from a guy who watched her kids for her when she had an emergency, saying he took on a father's role. BTW, they wasn't dating, and never has. The friend was gay. Not all women will do this, of course, but all women can do it through the government. I'm not saying all men are great either, but they're publicly shamed, robbed, and jailed. No punishment for women for fraud, rape, harassment, and compromise if they kill.

Independently of women, if one works out and is active, one will naturally be happier and feel more confident. Your mind works differently when you exercise regularly. You keep pushing yourself physically everyday and so pushing yourself at work or at school or in daily life is no big deal. That women are attracted to physical strength/fitness and confidence is just a bonus of your own commitment/practices to exercise. So don't get and stay in shape for women, do it for yourself. Don't allow yourself to look shabby. It is one thing to accept yourself, but it is better is you actually like yourself. Don't believe me? Just look at the men (and women, for that matter) who get into cycling....Women will compete for attention with bicycles and cycling gear.

He lacks the religion and morality to see the value in marriage, but in a certain sense he is a canary in the coal mine. FYI on Rich's background, he was screwed over in his divorce then had a terrible relationship with dating a single mother. He's seen the worst parts of marriage and relationships. Marriage laws haven't really discouraged monogamy but instead aren't keeping up with the times. Women aren't locked to the home anymore but marriage courts still favor women as if time stopped when the laws were written. At this point unless a man can secure his assets the current state of marriage doesn't favor a loyal man.

I'm a girl and agree with everything Mr Cooper said, specifically, how matrimonial and Family law spouts about the best interests of the children while actually working to fill the pockets of women as revenge against men. It's curious how these same girls beat their chests about how tough and strong they are and can do everything men can do, but as soon as they get into court against their spouse or former boyfriend, the tears start pouring out because they're victims, all of a sudden. It's disgusting. And I couldn't agree more about marriage: marriage benefits primarily women, not men, evidenced by so much case law that bends over backwards to invalidate pre-nup agreements that would have benefitted the monied male spouse if upheld, so that the pro-woman matrimonial laws will determine maintenance and child support as the default. You have to be a real sucker as a man to get married now-a-days.
