this is my first time listening to a full episode so you may have already touched on this before so i apologize if you have but i have a question that i would love to hear your perspective on. i grew up and am still a practicing christian, but a lot of my closest friends were raised mormon growing up due to the area i lived in, so i am more familiar with the church than other mainline christians. to us, there are some very clear theological differences between mormonism and mainline christianity that would make mormonism a different religion entirely (mainly having to do with how they view the trinity, jesus, and the book of mormon itself). i was wondering how this topic is approached in the church and how you feel about it as an ex mormon? i would assume it’s probably very hurtful to mormons when rude “christians” attack them on social media and call them out. thank you for being so open and honest in your content!!

Having lived abroad, I’ve realized how subjective modesty is. In HK professional women will wear very short skirts in the office, to meetings, out in public, etc. However if you even wear a v neck shirt, you get eyef**ked. Also I would love to see what is considered immodest in Russia or Brazil vs. Utah. It’s just what you are accustomed to. It’s so subjective. I remember seeing your dress (that you wore to your sister’s wedding on IG) and thinking how great it looked. It looked like something I would see on fashion influencers summer wedding dress boards. And it totally flattered your body and style.

I agreed and thought this was great until you talked about gym crushes. Lines can get crossed real quick with that one. Men and women think way differently when you say “crush.” I think women can see someone and say they’re hot when a guy doesn’t just think they’re hot.

“Crush” is such an ambiguous word! It can mean a lot of things. In this context, it’s more like “oh they’re cute!” Regardless, we’ve got good boundaries set and it sounds like you may have different ones for you!

i would be really interested in what it was like to learn a language while on mission, im not mormon nor have ever been but this has always been something i found fascinating, i know a lot of people that went on mission and came back being able to speak the language very well where i always assumed they would still have a limited lexicon more focused on faith

Ooh great question! My husband’s Spanish (from his mission in Mexico) is excellent. My German (from my mission in Germany)… not so much! I think mainly because I was there six months less and because I taught a lot of people in English still. And I had all American companions, he had Spanish speaking companions. I’ll jot down a note to talk about this more soon!

Idk, I feel like even as a post-religious person the “crushes” and porn thing really bothers me. I’m engaged and I genuinely have never felt a strong draw to anyone else since we’ve been together and I think it would be really hurtful to me if my partner had been (from what I understand he hasn’t). Is that allowed?? I feel like it’s hard sometimes in the post-religious space to know what’s meant to be progressed past and what’s okay to keep.
