The Ritz Carlton card now gives 85K points for the anniversary hotel night, previously 50K points. This is a huge upgrade, making the Ritz Carlton a big winner over the Bonvoy Brilliant. This alone is worth more than the $450 annual fee. I have the Boundless, looking to upgrade to the Ritz Carlton as soon as meeting the 12 month requirement.

Great comparison video! A few more perks to add to the Ritz card are that you get access to Visa's Luxury Hotel Collection with perks like free breakfast, hotel credits and upgrades and the hotels are not just Marriott branded properties, a Troon Golf Membership that allows you to play at numerous private courses around the world, automatic executive status with National Car Rental, and unmatched trip and bag delay insurance. The $450 annual fee may seem expensive to some, but not when compared to AMEX platinum's $695 fee and Chase Sapphire Reserve's $550 fee. I still believe the Ritz card is worth getting even without a signup bonus due to the insane amount of benefits that come with it.

Yea, I feel that among the travel cards, the hotel cards aren’t that great unless you are a Marriott loyalist (which I am) and a frequent traveler (which I am not). I feel combo of the CFU/CSP/ Amex Platinum would be preferred in getting you the same benefits outright, and with point accumulation, get you the others. But damn, I would love to have the Ritz-Carlton added as my ego flex card vs. the Centurion lol So 3 year game plan for me is to combine my CFU with the following: finish up my new member run with the CSP (basically got the 100k bonus) and follow that with applying for the Marriott Boundless and reap the new benefits. Re-rewatch your Ritz Carlton vid and upgrade when the time comes. Then cap it with the Platinum, giving me my card quad. I am still on the fence about getting a airline card just due to no lifetime status benefit (Delta loyalist here) and the Platinum benefits + using points would serve as a roundabout to what the SkyMiles card currently offers.

Very good comparison video. I love my Ritz-Carlton Card. I think its the best travel card out now. But if the Brilliant gets those upgrades that's been roomored then it could give the Ritz-Carlton Card a run for its money!! Nonetheless the Ritz-Carlton Card is over loaded with everything room travel perks to travel insurance protections also. It'll always be my favorite. Plus the look and name of this card is almost as prestigious as the Amex Platinum.

Great video, Mark! It was great to see the major differences (credits, etc.) and evaluate which of them work better for me. The RC’s flight credit is useful if you’re flying to a location with an RC property, especially outside the U.S. And you’re not locked to one airline like the Amex Plat. Not that this should be a factor in adding the card to your wallet, but if I had to judge the card based on its design, I’d pick the RC. It looks more prestigious (no pun intended) than the Bonvoy Brilliant. 😊

I sincerely have a challenge for all the "CC enthusiasts". There are dozens and dozens of videos on traveling,, aka buying hotel and airfare for the US travel, the Amex Gold's benefits when abroad, etc. Almost all videos show traveling only in the US with all the multipliers and upgrades for daily spending nd US traveling, but hardly anything beyond the airfare and pre-paid hotel if going abroad. Especially if you are not going t some tourist trap resort. I would love to see a video with trifectas/multipliers or whatever for the guy that travels abroad mostly and wants to get the most of multipliers and points from things outside the hotel and airfare purchase/upgrade. Car rentals, gas, restaurants, grocery stores, etc all with multipliers and no foreign transaction fee but for the US based traveler. Is there such a thing? Of course there is, but you now have a challenge. SHOW ME THE MONEY............

Thanks for the suggestion. Check out the Citi Premier Card. Also, nearly all card that have "3X Gas, etc." without a "U.S. only" exclusion will work worldwide, which is a lot of cards that are discussed. It's often Amex that has the "U.S. only" restriction.

The Ritz card seems like the clear winner for a mid to late player. Its been on my list for a couple of years now but the sub for all of the other cards were more important then the benifits of the ritz and since the visa infinite travel $100 credit was discontinued. It would be pretty cool if you could stack 5 of the 8 cards to get titanium status or 8 of 8 to get ambassador status lol

@@MarkReese I stand corrected. I was actually referring to the Boundless card which I look at as the sweet spot for most travelers. Road warriors might benefit from Marriott's more elite cards. Obviously RC's lounge benefit can't be beat for those who can avail themselves of that benefit.
