I had one I bought used a few years back, with a new MG 412 cab and I loved it. I sold it because I wasn't "gigging"... wish I hadn't. Fantastic sounding amp, I don't care what purists say... It was all Marshall when cranked.

I had the AVT 150C and it was the sound of my late teens playing gigs all over my home town. It sounds weird but that first quick chord made my ears prick up. Sounded so familiar haha.

I have this head but I use a MXR 10 band eq in the effects loop to clean up the high end a bit which sound killer. Although I do notice without the EQ the amp sounds it's best when all the tone knobs are in the middle.

Hello. nice presentation of the amp. I got one with the same settings, 150 W, but combo. I also play with a V. Brent Hinds, Epiphone signature model. Cheers from Europe!!

with that buzzing and hissing can you just use a noise gate to get rid of it?

Yup. I got a little $25 omw from Amazon and it works good to cut out the high on OD channels

I can hear its good clean. Also these Solid State type amps are good at the Metal Scooped mid thing. Can it do the 70s JMP or Plexi type mild overdrive so one could have a crack at Zep, Puple, AC/DC or Lizzy. Or is this amp useless for 70s rock?

With the head being 8 ohm, do you connect to the 4 or 16 ohm jack on the 1960? I have the same head & 1960 A&B cabinets but use them for my JVM head. I’m currently looking at “possibly”picking up an 8412 cab just for use with the AVT. I’m running out of room though!

I use this in my bands shared rehearsal room and it actually has a nice clean channel but I just dont understand the OD1 and OD2 channels at all. At my recording studio/other bands rehearsal room, I play on a JCM 800 for hard rock crunch stuff and a Peavey 5150 for metal and IMO, the avt150 doesnt do any of those styles well. I guess I can get a decent crunch on OD1 but the distortion seems kinda "thin" and "layered on top" of the base sound so I actually rather use the clean channel on full gain with a booster in front than actually playing on the OD1. And the OD2 channel is just terrible IMO. Its so thin but so over-saturated that I cant think of any style it would fit? I would actually rather play trash/melodic death/jent/modern metalcore on an old valvestate from the 1990s than on this one hrmm.... But maybe its just me who doesnt understand it hehe.

Is it good to play at home or is it too much powerfull with 150 watt? Thanks
@SteveStoneMetal

Depends on your home I guess. You can pay it pretty quietly and it will sound good, that's the nice thing about solid state amps. Tubes amps need to be loud to sound great, SS amps same sound at all volumes.
