I miss the music and I miss the time and the way of life back then…… its a privilege and a pleasure to have lived it …and experienced growing up during the 70’s …Yes the world was a lot simpler but somehow it was a much nicer place and so were people in general !! ….Ahh such great memories… ❤i would go back to this time in a heartbeat.

I’m 55, she’s right. Life was much more straightforward back then. Only 3 tv channels. No computers existed, no mobile phones, no internet. We only had one small metal bin at home that mum put ash in. There was only one fat kid in our school, there were boys & girls (not 57 genders), teachers taught (didn’t go on strike every 2 mins or pump out woke propaganda) and everyone around looked and sounded just like you did. Yea, in many ways it was better.

People were a darn sight more cheerful and enjoyed life more than now…. We had an endless supply of great music ….. so many genres ….. and we didn’t discard our older relatives into nursing homes the entire family took turns in taking care of them….. we valued their wisdom….. and they were never a burden…….. there are so many things I could add to this list about the decade that was the 70’s ………. +Jessie Lansdel There's nothing wrong with sounding like your mom. I've caught myself doing that as well. And rightfully so. Because nowadays, too much of what we hear is some muffled voices drowned out by the droning rhythm of loud, low-pitch boings and bangs and the heavily distorted whining of some electrical guitars. To me, it seems like everyone is just trying to hide their lack of talent behind a wall of racket! And what remains is some guys trying to rhyme to a rhythm with no melody at all to it. I can't even call that music. It's just talk! The 60s, 70s and 80s had real music that meant something.

I was born in 1965 so I am 50 years old and I remember all the 1970's music. I am an Elvis fan since 1971 but there are lots of really good songs from the 1970's that I remember and really liked and still do by various bands and singers and I remember this great song from 1978 when I was 13 years old. These were the days when music was worth listening to. Today's music is a load of rubbish done by people with no talent at all. The best music is from the 1950's, 1960's, 1970's, and there were some good songs in the early to mid 1980's but after that nothing worth hearing.
@wiltner

+Dave Wiseman ... I take your point about today's music but the 90's were incredible as far as I'm concerned. Brit Pop - Oasis, Blur, Supergrass, Grunge- Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Acid Jazz- The Brand New Heavies, Incognito, Jamiroquai, Female artists like Sheryl Crow and Alanis Morissette. It started going downhill from the 00's in my opinion and today it's mostly sampled and manufactured rubbish.
@Mr3sheds
8 жыл бұрын
I was born in 1953 and was brought up on 60s music which was a great time with groups like the Beatles and The Stones. There were plenty of talented artists in the 70s, 80s and 90s and there are many talented musicians around today, particularly female, Paloma Faith and Adele, for example. The difference I find today is that there are fewer memorable songs that will stand the test of time. The simple truth is that music isn't as important to young people nowadays as it was to our generation. It pays to have an open mind and be prepared to seek out todays talent. You may well, like me, discover that there are many talented artists out there waiting to be discovered. Some may well be rubbish, but there was certainly plenty of rubbish around in the 60s and 70s. Record companies in those days could afford to carry dead weight - they cannot do so nowadays.

Great song from the late 70s, lovely to hear it again. Music is a time machine, it transports you back to those days when you first enjoyed it. No right or wrong when comparing against other eras, just nice to evoke great memories from that time. Thank you Marshall and Hain.

This is a masterpiece of the delayed clap . Absolutly amazing performance by Kim of co-ordinated clapping . It is off the beat and miming at the same time would be impossible for most people , Utterly brilliant....4.7 million viewers so far ....all because of this delayed clap . I am right , aren`t I ? Great memories! Thanks for the reminder! Kit Hain was indeed truly gorgeous! The 1970s' are now unfairly lambasted in the media by people who are not nearly old enough to remember (the winter of discontent etc.). Throw away your history books! For those of us who were actually there - it was a great time to be young! There really is no substitute for first hand experience!

This is a superb number, reminds me of a holiday in Eastbourne in 1978 where the hotel bedroom radio (no TV!) was tuned to BBC Radio2. At 5pm the station combined with Radio 1 for the new chart run down, and as I was getting ready for the 'evening meal' this number played'! Don't get me wrong. Eastbourne is a very pretty town with nice people, lots of gardens, spotlessly clean beaches, and loads of shops...!!! (And I don't live there, sadly!)

1978, ah fond memories of Stage School and working at BBC Studios on Grange Hill, and many other Productions over the years, I love this song, which got to Number 3 in the UK charts, happy times, Kit Hain performs this so well, and looks beautiful, the 70's were great, a time when girls had no pumped up lips, fake tan, or tattoos, just looked naturally "stunningly beautiful"..

@@zomielastaroth4956 Zomiel........you seem to have put words on the paper - a good start by the way- but in an illogical order.... and with unconventional use of the single-word unattached adverb.. I realise ,of course ,English may not be your first language but I find this facility to promptly seize upon imperfectly expressed sentiments such as this will be extremely valuable to you the user in your aspiration for self-improvement in the mastery of communication.. Please be assured that it is sent with the greatest respect and shared joy of the accompanying soundtrack which should be played again while reading this response, Reconsideration of the contribution of the handclap is suggested -although any reluctance to initially appreciate this simply reinforces the power of its subliminal nature

1 and 2 and 3 and 4 and - you clap on the fourth " and " . Most anyone with even the slightest bit of timing could easily get that right.
@MrMartininuk

@@k_DAN Thanks for that advice. Bearing in mind that you are singing or miming the words while administering these claps , the sub-conscious counting aid is ,for me, not quite enough to successfully perform the task ......with the numbers occasionally appearing in my delivered lyric. However, I appreciate your point and I have long recognised my personal musical limitations.I am not sure if you really are in the majority here, Would anyone else care to relay their position on how simple this is.

@@MrMartininuk I had never heard this song before. But what is really interesting is, the opening sound is identical to "Islands in the Stream" by Kenny Rogers and Dolly Parton. When I have a minute, I will see who ripped off who with that.
