I think the EP Booster and the RK5 were my favourite tones. I really dig Xotic pedals and use the Super Sweet and SL drive.

The RK5 did come up well in this video, I liked that one too. The EP just has a knack of making everything sound good. I've not tried the SL or the Super Sweet, but I have owned an AC Booster in the past and thought that was great. Xotic make some killer stuff.

What cab and speaker(s) do you have?

I use a Marshall 2x12, semi-open, with two Greenback speakers. This video is recorded through a Greenback IR though, as the volume is an issue where I live. Ben

There was not a bad sound amongst them imo, but I would use the amp nice and clean with a touch of plate reverb 😁

It handles pedals really well doesn't it? This is definitely not the amp for a clean sound though. It doesn't really have one to speak of. The bright channel has a bright cap that is really piercing in the lower sweep of the dial, so if the loudness is set low enough that the amp is clean, it's incredibly brittle. A friend of mine has just bought the JTM 45 version of this series of amp and I've done a comparison video that will be out in a couple of months. It's very interesting the difference between the two. The JTM style stays clean much further around the dial and is actually quite a nice clean tone. Mine is rock or nothing, but I still have the DV for clean stuff and that sounds great.

@@BenFletcherGuitar if you're willing to do a tiny bit of modding, adding a dial to choose between input cap values opens up this amp so massively. My recommendations are a 100pf for the 45 type cleans, a 500pf for steely bright sound, and a 1800pf with a 100k or 200k resistor in series for that bright higher gain sound without making it unusable at lower gain. I never use the stock 4700pf cap anymore :')

@@void_snw That sounds terrifying, but really useful! I like the stock one for recording bright jangly rhythm tones. Way too bright for me live, but on a recording they sit really nice in a mix. The idea of a switchable cap could be great. Part of the reason I bought the amp was because I was having reliability issues with my main gigging amp and so wanted something with a warranty for a few years. Maybe once that has run out, I'll look in to this option, because it would be very handy.

That thing is a great sounding unit, but I haven't tried it as a drive pedal yet. I will do, although I've already made my video with it, so it won't be included in that. It wasn't here when I made this video though, I sold that Archer in the 1st example in July of last year!
