This piece is not easy to play. I struggled with it, and many other Schumann pieces in College. She plays it flawlessly. It was like she was contemplating what to play and decided on this from the hundreds of pieces she can play at any given moment. Its mind boggling. I hope she's playing concerts for at least another 10 years. She looks like she could play for an eternity.

@@samcollins8330 what is the point in your comment? Yes composers have talent, but also they need talented artists to play their music and martha is one of the greatest of all time. @@samcollins8330 you're commenting for the sake of having an argument. Martha has nothing to do with a lack of composers nowadays and we're incredibly lucky to have a legendary pianist like her to live in our time. She is creating music because she is making the sound, but also creating her own interpretation of how the music should be expressed.

@@samcollins8330 how is composing forgotten, the composers are literally tributed every time their pieces are played, theres no greater tribute to Schumanns work than it being played in a huge concert hall by a legendary pianist.

Why does she often start to play before the audience stops to clap ? I find that rude. I know she had some personal issues and sometimes don't want to play but I just don't understand why can't she wait few seconds before start playing. Anyway, what a goddess on the keys !

@@lucasola7956 You don't understand my point. It's kind of rude. It's like saying "alright, shut the f*ck up and let me play so I can get done with this fast and go home". I saw a documentary on her life and she said that she struggle with depression or something like that because of her childhood. At some point in that documentary she even said just before going on stage "I don't want to play" and showed obvious discomfort but went on stage anyway (let's not forget it's a job that she gets paid for). When you know all this, her starting to play right away before the end of the applause seems like she wants to get done with it quickly. So no, it's no as romantic as you think. It may not be about her only caring about the music.

@@gil-evens If you saw the documentary I saw, then surely it didn’t escape you that she is VERY shy on stage, which is the main reason why she doesn’t play solo anymore and hates being the sole focus of attention. Cutting the applause short is probably just a way for a shy and modest person to end this uncomfortable position where everybody in the room is clapping for her, which to her is an embarrassing moment. As a shy person myself I totally understand her reaction and I would deal with that situation in the exact same way.
